"Let's get you out of here." Bakugou told me as I watched All Might and the remaining Villains negotiate.
"Not yet." I shook my head without looking at him.
I could feel Bakugou's annoyed gaze on the side of my head, but he remained silent as I eyed All Might. I could see that his Hero form was beginning to evaporate, and he hadn't spared any energy to move a single muscle since his fight with the Nomu. His time was nearly up, and my heart sunk a little in my chest when I realized that the fight wasn't quite over yet.
"Shigaraki Tomura," Kurogiri — the warp gate — called from behind him. "Please, calm down. Looking carefully, I can see that he was definitely weakened from the damage of Nomu's attacks."
As Kurogiri spoke, Shigaraki halted in scratching away at his flaky neck to turn to him.
"Besides," Kurogiri continued. "The children appear to be frozen in fear. We still having underlings who can be used. There are likely only a few minutes left before reinforcements arrive. If you and I work together, we still have a chance of killing him."
"Yeah... yeah, yeah," Shigaraki sounded giddy at the mere thought of All Might's demise. I clenched my teeth. "That's right... that's right... we have no choice but to do it. I mean, we have the last boss right in front of our eyes..."
Bakugou and I turned simultaneously as the Villains Mr Aizawa had previously beaten begin to rise again. Due to my current state and the weakness I felt in my legs, I wasn't going to be much use in defending All Might or anyone else. I bit the inside of my cheek as I thought, but no obvious plan surfaced in my head.
"All Might will do something about the main bad guys," Kirishima began as he walked up to Bakugou and I. "Bakugou, take Yuki somewhere safe and hurry back to help us out."
"Like hell I'm going anywhere and letting you four morons do this by yourselves," I was quick to object as I pushed my way off of Bakugou to stand — albeit wobbly — myself. "I'm weaker, sure, but —"
"You can't do anything in the state you're in," Shoto interrupted with his hand slapped firmly on my shoulder. I winced. "As gust of wind could have you knocked out in seconds. You'll die."
"What's the use of being a Hero if I can't help anybody?" I asked, sounding more strained than I intended.
"You helped enough," Bakugou said as he looped my arm around his shoulders again. "You took care of Nightmare by yourself. That sure as hell saved us a lot of trouble."
"B-but —"
Bakugou shook his head. "Quit hogging the spotlight and let's go."
Before Bakugou got the chance to lead me anywhere, I turned over my shoulder to see Midoriya jumping into the fray of All Might versus Shigaraki.
"Midoriya!" Kirishima called after him uselessly.
I pushed my way off of Bakugou again and began my sprint after him. With every step I took, a jolt of pain shot up both of my legs and into my arms and fingertips; but I kept going.
"Get away from All Might!" Midoriya screamed.
My eyes widened in horror as Shigaraki swiped his hand into Kurogiri's body, transitioning it right in front of Midoriya's face. Everything felt as if it was going in slow motion as I held my hand out uselessly, hoping that it would freeze time and stop Midoriya from plummeting to his certain death.
"Midoriya!" I shrieked, feeling the blood spit out from my throat as I pushed myself further.
As I stumbled forward, a bullet shot right through Shigaraki's hand. He yanked it away, and by some twisted miracle, Midoriya went tumbling to the ground. I heaved as I turned toward the source of the attack, and nearly cried with tears of joy at the sight of the Pro Heroes — including my enraged grandfather — gathered at the top of the USJ main staircase.
