Chapter 86🥹💖💖💖

A frail figure frantically scrambled backward upon noticing her rotting body, nearly stumbling over her ground-length traditional Japanese clothing. Her violet hair swayed with each panicked motion, desperately looking around for guidance or an explanation.

Hooded golden eyes silently observed the girl, waiting for the right moment to approach her.

The supernatural listened to her wonder to herself if she was to rot away to nothingness in that manner, and he chose to call out to her right then. He was well aware that his presence within the bustle of other supernatural creatures startled her, but he kept a calm, authoritative demeanor, his eyes never leaving her confused indigo ones.

"Ho-Honorable Number 7..." the kannagi girl stuttered.

Hanako smiled comfortingly at her, taking pity on the poor girl who'd been dragged into this mess just by coming to check on her friends. No. 6 had swept her away without a second thought, and she had been changed in ways any normal human wouldn't be.

     But it was okay.

Even if it wasn't fair, it was okay.

Because if Akane Aoi Became a replacement kannagi, Yashiro Nene's fated lifespan could be altered.

And that's all Number 7 of the School's 7 Mysteries desired.

It's not like he meant to care so much about his human assistant's well being. She was just a regular teenage girl who summoned a wish granter out of selfish desire. She was idealistic, a dreamer, all-too self conscious about her ankles, and opinionated. She was also curious, optimistic, caring, and...

She made Hanako-san of the Toilet, a dead murderer, feel like he was alive and actually liked.

Hanako truly never meant to care about her so much, so much that he was willing to sacrifice an innocent high school girl in an unfortunate predicament just so Yashiro could live an extra 90 years. She wished for that, but it was his selfish wish now too. He wanted his friend to live the life she deserved. Even if it meant someone else had to pay the price. But Aoi-chan wasn't opposed to it...then why feel guilty? The girl herself had said that she wanted to go to the Far Shore. Hanako decided to help her reach there safely, escorting her himself.

"Over there? That's all because of the Severance from the human world. The boundaries are self-destructing," he explained, directing his gaze to the ever growing black plague in the light orange sky. Pointing to the same black area nearby Aoi-chan, he added, "Oh yeah, you probably wanna stop sitting there-" he cut his voice short when the hole increased in size, swallowing a passerby supernatural, almost as if on cue. Aoi-chan gasped, jolting away in fright, but Hanako merely blinked solemnly, unfazed. He moved his finger to the train, which was preparing to make its final trip to the Far Shore. A one-time ride. "Before you get swallowed up, you should hurry and get out of this place. It's not going to spare you, you know," he commented, beginning to make his way to the train. He didn't bother if Aoi-chan came with him or not, he was sure she'd eventually board the train.

     "Hey, um..."

Hanako turned around, giving his attention to Aoi-chan's hesitant voice. "Where's that going? The train I mean."
