When your weak paws can no longer carry you home,
I'll use my strength to paddle you back.
When your brittle bones can no longer let you roam,
I'll lead you to a train above the tracks.

You sheltered me with love when I was homeless-
when the world appeared dull and hope was missing.
Along your tail and barks, sunlight peeked through this broken nest.
Promises of contentment began appearing.

Leave each print on every wooden floor;
for these little things I can remember you by.
When it gets tiring and you're out the door,
know there are no farewell nor goodbyes.

When your thin fur can no longer keep you warm,
I'll steal the sun for your comfort.
When your dull eyes can no longer see my open arms,
I'll let you sleep away the hurt.
