"Should we schedule your next appointment Ms. Tate?" Dr. Keen asks while typing at her office desk. Arbor, lost in her thoughts, looks around the warmly lit room.
Arbor murmurs "Uh sure."
"What time would work best for you dear?'
Sitting in silence, Arbor is contemplating her decision.
"I guess the same time next week."
"Okay, so I put you down for next Monday at 3:30, does that sound about right?"
"Yup that's fine."
Fidgeting with her sweater sleeve she keeps thinking about the last few nights. Then was abruptly interrupted by her therapist's response.
"Alrighty, I will see you then. Have a good day Arbor."
"Thanks, you too."
Arbor grabs her things and walks out of the room, to be greeted by the exit of the building. With a smug look on her face, she thinks to herself "Ha! We are never coming back to this place again! That hag is a joke."
Arbor gets into her 97' Toyota Corolla to rush to a nice restaurant to meet her parents for their anniversary dinner. Her parents, Jessica and Nick, have been married for 23 years. Ever since Arbor was little, they have always been strict and have hovered over everything. But she loved them!
She made sure to get to the restaurant earlier than her mom and dad so she could get the roses and decorations on the table beforehand. As she pulls into the parking lot, and walks towards the door, she looks up at the awning and notices the cursive letters spelling Le Refuge.
"Hello I have a reservation under the name Tate"
"How many would be dining with us tonight?"
"Just three"
The waiter grabs the menus and walks arbor towards the corner of the room.
"Could I get you started on any beverages?" Scribbling on his little notebook.
"A bottle of Syrah with 3 glasses please."
Arbor places rose petals on the table for some light decorations, and places her gifts and cards under the table so the table cloth hides them. She glances up from the table and sees the waiter walking back with the wine.
"Here you go miss, could I get you anything to start?"
"No thank you, this would be good for now."
After a few moments longer she spots them walking toward her. Smiling, they take off their coats and greet Arbor with a kiss on the cheek.
"I ordered us a bottle of Syrah to start, is that ok for you guys?"
"That's perfect, love" her father says excitedly.
After ordering their meals, more small talk, and celebration, Arbor starts to get uneasy when her mother starts to bring up her sister. Her sister, Lili was 14 when she died, there was a large rain storm that flooded the basement. Due to the water flowing in with force it loosens one of the wires connected to the washer. Unknowingly Arbor and Lili go down to down to play in the basement and Lili sadly died from electrocution after unwittingly stepping into the flooded basement. Arbor hates hearing her family talk about that incident mostly because she blames herself. That traumatic incident was the beginning of a lot of problems.
"I think i'm gonna go to the restroom"
"Are you ok sweetheart?" her mom blurted
"I'm fine."
Walking towards the restroom Arbor feels her head get heavy and her eyes seem to narrow.
She opens the washroom door and sighs in relief. It's quiet in there, with faint sounds of the music being played around the restaurant. Arbor places her hands on the side of the sink and leans over.
"Embry. Why must you ruin these nicer evenings! I want to be around them! All you do is cause problems and make people unhappy!"
She releases the sink from her grasp and fixes her outfit
"Oh Arbor, Look at you being a goody two shoes. God, I can't stand you! Your perfect hair. Perfect fare. Perfect body. Perfect friends. You have no fun! All you do is study for your goddamn degree. I wish you weren't here. I wish it was me having all the fun and not you!"
"Your ideas of 'fun' aren't good! You are constantly whispering in my ear all these ideas that I can't even stomach the thought of doing!"
"You are just a weak, low life, little-"
"We are done talking about this. I want to enjoy our parents' anniversary dinner."
Arbor splashes her face with cold water and walks back out to her parents.
She walks out of the restroom and overhears her parents' conversation.
"the car needs to be taken into the mechanics, its making very strange sounds and is worrying me" her mom complains
"Ok im back" Arbor says looking at her mom after she finished her sentence
"Hi sweetie, me and your father were just talking about the stupid car malfunctioning."
"Oh that sucks, I'm sorry about that happening. Well, I'm sorry to cut a celebration short but I'm going to head home. I'm not doing too well and I have finals tomorrow."
"Okay sweetheart, mom and I are going to stay a bit and finish this glass of wine."
"Does this have something to do with your split personality bull crap?" her Mom says with an attitude, rolling her eyes.
"I don't know mom. Well good night, I'll call you guys in the morning."
She walks away and can hear her mom quietly say things under her breath
"Her therapy isn't working! She needs to be institutionalized! She isn't safe, Nick!"
"Do they really think I'm unsafe? Am I safe? I would never hurt anyone! Why would they think that about me? Their own daughter!"
Over hearing her parents sent her through a tornado of emotions! But within a blink of an eye she walks to a car with a smug look on her face

Nick and Jessica got into their car arguing about the previous events that occurred that night. It went from celebration to chaos, they wanted to have a peaceful evening with Arbor, but that didn't end up going as planned. It's cold in Virginia around this time of year, with the roads being icy. It's very nerve racking to drive! Arbor waits for her parents in the parking lot, so she can follow and make sure they get home safely. When they pulled out of the driveway Arbor waited a minute so she wouldn't be right behind them. A few miles later a large bend in the road came up, being a few cars back she couldn't see what happened, but she only heard a loud crash. She pulled over as quickly as she could! Arbor shakily puts her hands to her face starting to cover her mouth and cry! She freaks out and starts to unbuckle her seatbelt.
As the car door opens, Embry smercks, holding wire cutters and car parts, whistling the tunes of eerie songs.
"You're mine, Yes, we belong together, for eternity.."
