Heavy metal handcuffs dug uncomfortably into the flesh on Sam's wrists. Chills tickled his spine as the chains rattled, keeping the situation fresh in his mind. The blonde's heart thudded inside his chest viciously upon opening his eyes only to realize there was fabric obstructing his view. Though his mouth was dry, his first and only instinct was to call out to the only thing that mattered to him in this moment.
"Colby!" He uttered, an echo ringing throughout his ears. It was hard to breathe for the boy as no response came, making him wonder if his best friend was even alive still. He couldn't think about that though; him and Colby had beat life's ass since highschool, and if he wasn't here with him now, he'd have no reason to continue.
Sure, Sam still had his life, and his girlfriend... Oh god, Katrina.
Did she know where he was?
Maybe she hadn't even noticed he'd gone missing.
No, surely, she'd have realized her boyfriend wasn't home.
Right?
As thoughts overwhelmed Sam, he heard a faint noise coming from somewhere in the room. Trying to quiet himself, he listened closely.
Chains...
But not his own, as he was sitting still. "Colby?" Sam murmured, blood pounding in his ears. And then, a groan. It was fairly quiet, but Sam recognized it immediately. Relief spread throughout his entire body knowing his friend was still alive.
"Sam?" He heard Colby's voice quiver as he spoke. The only time he'd heard the brunette genuinely sound this afraid was when he was alone in the basement of the conjuring house. But this was a different type of fear; confusion.
"Dude, are you okay?" Sam asked, knowing Colby suffered from anxiety, and wanted to make sure he'd stay calm enough to rationalize.
"I-I think so..." He replied, a hint of fear in his voice. He was trying to hide it; Sam knew this gimmick all to well. Nobody knew Colby like he did, he could read the man like a book.
"Hey... You're okay, we're gonna get out of here and go back home." Sam reassured the other male. The words repeated in his own mind, almost as if it was comforting to hear; and he hoped it did the same for Colby.
