pov: Deku's blindly falling in love with Uraraka, and you're not blind enough to ignore that he's falling out of you [repost]
genre: hopeful angst
This love's but a newborn so why does it bite?
it hasn't even lost all its milkteeth,
so why you're already anxious to leave?
-Nicole ZefanyaYou watch him carefully, gauging his reaction. He gives you a smile but his confusion is apparent.
"You... want me to stop talking to Uraraka?"
"..is it too much?" You ask, worried.
"That's kinda impossible, don't ya think?" He asked you, his eyes went back to flicking left and right as he reads.
"...yeah"
"What brought this on?"
"You know what, you're right. It's nothing, I was just being silly." You shook your head.
He stops reading his notes immediately and looks at you. You two were at the school library, studying for your general subjects.
"It's not nothing. Tell me?" He says, the way he does makes you feel it was okay to tell him anything. He could even make you confess a crime if you were a villain.
You feel yourself shake, fearing that by your request alone he'd come to hate you. "I think- maybe she likes you?"
"No way." He laughs, the thought he found incredulous. "Uraraka doesn't like me. We're friends but -"
You didn't like that. You didn't want him to be friends with her. Was he really oblivious to his charms? Maybe you're just unreasonable. But you see the way she looks at him. Starry eyed. You knew because your eyes does it too whenever Deku's around.
He gives you a thoughtful look, stands up and makes his way to you; he drags you to a inconspicuous corner hidden by the array of bookshelves, sits on the floor, and opens his arms, an indication for you to sit infront of him. You settle your back snugly against him and his chin rests on your shoulder.
"You don't have to worry about Uraraka. There's no way she likes me."
"But on the off-chance that she does like you?" Your voice was small; hearing it made Deku's arms hold you tighter.
"I'll keep distance. A respectable distance."
You nod. That was it right? You guys were okay, he didn't get defensive and say you were paranoid, he heard you out. This is okay . The feeling hung in the air though, it creeps every night from under your bed and you keep asking yourself: are you guys okay? Was this okay? How long could you keep Deku? Is there something wrong with you? Does he still love you? Will he stop loving you-
will he ... leave you?
•He didn't like the name 'Deku' but someone changed the meaning of it. Deku as in 'you can do it.'
"It was Uraraka, wasn't it?" You asked him, smiling sunnier than usual. If anyone had looked closer, your eyes didn't shine like it should.
He nods, grinning. "I owe my hero name to her."
That pin prickling pain comes like a thousand tiny needles, relentlessly stabbing your chest. You wince at the pain but quickly composed yourself. You're the girlfriend. You. She's a friend. There's nothing to worry. You're okay. Everything's fine.
• You see him, getting flustered whenever she's close. Dork. A beautiful, wonderful and the most adorable dork. You couldn't blame her. If only it was someone else, then you might have been glad that someone other than you can see Izuku's charm. But she wasn't someone else, you know. She's Ochako Uraraka. Uravity. A girl even Bakugou respects the hell out of. The one who could also make Izuku flustered other than you-
