Chapter 2- Privilege and Punishment (Georgia)

It wasn't fair. It wasn't fair that Mom liked Ruby so much better than me. It wasn't fair that Ruby blamed me for something that really was her fault.

Then again, it probabley  wasn't fair that I stole everything of Ruby's.

But anyway, that didn't matter to me as I re did  my makeup and re-brushed my hair. I just thought about how very very sorry Ruby would be that she had done this to me.

Anyway, I couldn't stay locked up in my room forever. I had to go to school. I quietly slipped to the bottom floor (I sleep on the third floor) to pack my lunch. I was having a peanut butter sandwich, potato chips, and an apple. Maybe I would pack one of Ruby's proteen  shakes she loves so much. Sometimes Ruby doesn't even pack a lunch, she just drinks one of those. Then I thout of something better. I would take ALL of Ruby's protein shakes and hide them. Ha. That would teach her not to get me in trouble. No beloved protein shake on the first day of middle school.

Anyway, I packed my lunch in a brown paper bag, then rethought it and packed it in one of Ruby's Julie Darras™ insulayted purses. I packed the purse in one of Mom's gold bags. I was almost ready to leave when I suddenly remembered the protein shakes. Gotta get rid of those first!

I took the pack upstairs to my room and hid them in the safe at the back of my closet. As one could imagine I was shocked to see RUBY was in there, trying to guess my passcode. I should have known she would think that was also where I hid her credit cards.

My notebooks and papers were scattered on the floor, and I realized the sityuashun wasn't hopeless. My near-photografic memory made it so that I didn't need to write the passcode down anywhere.

Ruby had heard me coming,, so she spun around. She saw me holding ALL of her protein shakes, and she screamed again. Ruby kind of has a problem with screaming, cuz  it's what she does whenever anything doesn't go her way.

"RUBY GET OUT OF MY ROOM!" I yelled.

This time both Mom and Dad heard. The thing is, I don't like it that Dad doesn't spend time with his daughters, but when he isn't working, he's very nice. He's the more reasonable parent. Also, I'm pretty sure he likes me better than Ruby, unlike everyone else in this world.

"Georgia, don't you dare yell at your poor sister like that. And why do you have her shakes? Ruby, my poor girl, what happened?" said Mom.

"Nevermind that. Ruby, next time, please don't go into Georgia's room without asking. Let's just put everything back where it belongs, and continue to pack for school, okay girls? We all need to remember to respect others' privacy," said Dad. I told you he was the more reasonable parent.

"Ok, Daddy," I obediently said, and gave Ruby a sour look as soon as he looked away.

He turned back to us.

"You know, girls, I have to finish some paperwork before I head for work, so before I go, I wanted to give you something. For the start of middle school." said Dad.

He handed each of us a stone. Ruby's was red. Mine was green.

"Give them to someone important, okay? Someone who really matters," he said.

"Right," said Ruby, stuffing the red crystal into her purse. Ruby was wearing a bandana/headband thing, probably to cover up the bald patch.

I looked over the green stone, probably an emerald, and then slipped it into the pocket of my hoodie. Then Mom and Dad left the room. Ruby was about to go, too.

"Wait! Ruby, you know I didn't mean to, um... shave your hair off. And if we're being honest here, it kinda was your fault. So I dunno... maybe you kinda shouldn't have gotten me in trouble for that," I said, and immediately took it back.

"Oh, I'm sorry, I said that wrong, I didn't mean it like that..." 'Wow, Georgia, nice going.' I thought to myself.

"Shut up, egghead," Ruby remarked as she left the room, twirling Mom's shirt.

"And I thought maybe we could be friends again and you could help me get a fresh start," I said, continuing the conversation by myself.
