The rest if the day passed excruciatingly slowly, and a majority of the time I felt my mind drifting off to Keaton. It's not like I'd never noticed him before, I just hadn't acted on it. I didn't even know him; just that I couldn't seem to keep my eyes off of him whenever we had a class together. I heaved a heavy sigh as the last bell if the day rang, and I all but ran out of my classroom. After saying goodbye to my friends and a short stop to my locker I walked outside to see Keaton. Leaning up against a car I had no idea was his. " I didn't know you had a car, Stromberg" I smiled as I approached him. His head shot up and he looked up and me for a few seconds before looking back down to the car. "Oh y-yea." he mumbled "I got i-it for my birthday last year"
The car ride there was quiet, with only the soft lull of the radio and a few gusts of wind coming in through the windows. When we got to his house, he pulled in to the vacant driveway, and I followed him as he got out of the car and walked up the path to his front door.
"We can work down here" he said smoothly gesturing to the living room, and I noticed it was the first time he hadn't stuttered when talking to me. I took this as a good sign and decided to step it up a little. "Or" I asked, trying to sound flirty, but not enough to scare him off. "You can show me your room?"
"u-uhm ok I g-guess"
he led the way upstairs and down a long hallway before taking a deep breath and opening his bedroom door. It was somewhat clean, and smelled of old records and aftershave, which had my head spinning as I walked in. "God Keaton" I asked, looking at all of the 100's of CDs he had along his dresser and windowsill "How many CDs do you have?" he blushed again, " I-I'm not r-really sure" he stuttered. "I think it's cool " I tried to give a reassuring smile "y-you do?" I nodded, "So should we get started?" "yea. okay" he sat down on his bed and I followed, sitting and getting out my books. "s-so. we sh-should probably pick a topic f-first " I couldn't help but watch his lips move as he spoke, forming each syllable perfectly. He had such perfect features, and it puzzled me why girls never gave him more attention. "Have you ever had a girlfriend?" I asked curiously, not paying much attention as the words tumbled out of my mouth. "u-uhm" he blushed, "not r-really, no." he raked his fingers through his hair. He was actually unbelievably sexy, and the fact that he was completely oblivious to it made him even more so. I found myself wanting him. I knew he'd be a challenge to crack, but lucky for him, I was up for a challenge. I inched closer to him and he seemed to notice as he tensed but didn't move, clearly showing that he had never been this close to a girl before, especially on his bed. "Keaton?" I asked slowly, and got the reaction I wanted as his eyes trailed to my lips. "Have you ever kissed a girl before?"
"U-uhm" he stuttered, and I almost laughed as i watched him struggle with his wandering eyes. Before finally staring at my lips "w-well no...not really" I closed the space between us with a slight shove to the books in my way, moving them to the end of the bed so that I could get close enough to feel the sharp breaths coming from his lips. "Do you want to kiss me Keaton?" then the moment ended as Keaton's door was pushed open to reveal someone who could only be his brother. The same angular chin and perfect smile that dropped as he saw us. "Oh my god. uh..I-sorry, I-I just...I'm leaving. okay. bye" he closed the door and I could hear the thumps of his feet running down the stairs and his voice calling for someone named Drew. Keaton jumped up to chase him and I followed. After running down the stairs and through so many hallways that I couldn't have found my way out if I had tried, we somehow ended up in the kitchen. I rounded the last corner to see Keaton's brother and the boy who I was guessing to be Drew, staring at Keaton, who looked like he might die of embarrassment. "Sooo." I started trying to end the awkward silence.
Drew laughed "Wow Keaton. I'll admit it. I never thought you would ever get a girlfriend. Congrats man. "
"Uhm..." Keaton started
"We-we aren't "
I finished for him "we aren't....together"
Keaton's brother laughed "I don't know man...you guys seemed pretty 'together' a few minutes ago."
