'Two months' Kim Dokja thought to himself, sitting in the living room and contemplating Yoo Joonghyuk's odd behavior. Despite living together, it had been two months since they had spent quality time together. Kim Dokja couldn't understand why Yoo Joonghyuk seemed to avoid him these days.
After pondering for a while, Kim Dokja decided to call his friend Han Sooyoung and share his concerns about Yoo Joonghyuk.
"He's been acting like this for two months now. I asked him why he's suddenly so busy, but he avoided the question," Kim Dokja sadly explained, feeling tired of being ignored.
"I'm not sure either. I'll ask the others if they know anything and let you know as soon as I find out," Han Sooyoung replied, offering her help.
"Thanks," Kim Dokja responded before hanging up. Glancing at the calendar, he realized their fifth anniversary was just five days away. He had made plans for that day and hoped everything would go well.
*Flashback*
"I can't come home today. Something came up," Yoo Joonghyuk had said on the phone.
"Oh... but I made dinner. I tried a new recipe I saw the other day," Kim Dokja mentioned, but Yoo Joonghyuk interrupted him.
"I'll try it next time, babe. I'm really busy right now," Yoo Joonghyuk replied before abruptly ending the call.
Kim Dokja stared at his phone, feeling disappointed. He looked at the food he had prepared, ate his portion alone, and saved Yoo Joonghyuk's share in the fridge. After a quick shower, he went to bed.
*End of Flashback*
'He hasn't even tried it' Kim Dokja thought as he stood up and went to their shared bedroom. Opening the closet, he noticed the boxes containing the decorations he had planned for their anniversary. 'He didn't even notice these boxes' Kim Dokja realized, feeling a bit disheartened.
Closing the closet, he lay down on the bed and stared at the ceiling for a while. Suddenly, he heard the front door open. Kim Dokja rushed out and saw Yoo Joonghyuk standing there. He went up to him and embraced him, welcoming his return.
But Yoo Joonghyuk didn't hug back. Instead, he had an angry expression on his face. Looking around, he noticed the mess Kim Dokja had made earlier. "It's a mess here. Why didn't you clean up, Kim Dokja?" Yoo Joonghyuk asked angrily, pointing at the clutter.
Realizing his oversight, Kim Dokja said, "Right," and looked at the mess. He had been organizing his books before his mind wandered off. "Sorry, I'll clean it up right away," Kim Dokja apologized and kissed Yoo Joonghyuk on the cheek.
After they cleaned up together, Yoo Joonghyuk cooked dinner. Kim Dokja took a shower after eating, then went to bed, waiting for Yoo Joonghyuk to join him.
Yoo Joonghyuk came out of the shower in his pajamas and lay down next to Kim Dokja, hugging him. Kim Dokja smiled, thinking, 'Maybe I'm overthinking things' and drifted off to sleep.
Riinngggg Riinnnnggg Riinngggg-
"What?" Kim Dokja half-shouted, annoyed by the phone call that woke him up. He checked the time, 7:00 am, and answered the call.
"LEE SEOLHWA!" Han Sooyoung's voice shouted from the other end.
"Huh? What? I'm Kim Dokja," Kim Dokja replied, still groggy.
"Cough... I mean, Lee Seolhwa. She's the reason why Yoo Joonghyuk has been acting strange. She's back from America. Apparently, your boyfriend picked her up at the airport two months ago and has been helping her readjust after being away for years," Han Sooyoung explained.
"Oh... wait, Lee Seolhwa? You mean Yoo Joonghyuk's childhood friend and old crush, Lee Seolhwa?" Kim Dokja responded in shock. He was familiar with Lee Seolhwa as Yoo Joonghyuk had mentioned her before they started dating. He knew she had moved to America for studies. He knows how important that woman is to Yoo Joonghyuk.
"Yes, that's the one," Han Sooyoung confirmed. She proceeded to explain how Yoo Joonghyuk had been assisting Lee Seolhwa with her readjustment and how she had discovered this information.
"Anyway, there's no need to worry. He assured you that he no longer has romantic feelings for her. And if he ever cheats on you, I'll personally smack him," Han Sooyoung reassured Kim Dokja before bidding her farewell.
Kim Dokja sat up, contemplating what Han Sooyoung had revealed. He decided it was pointless to overthink the situation. 'That's right, they're just friends' Kim Dokja thought as he made his way to the kitchen. He expected to find Yoo Joonghyuk there, but instead, he only found some wrapped food. Searching the entire house, he discovered a note on the table next to their bed.
"I'm leaving early, I have something to do. I cooked breakfast already. Make sure to eat.
Love, Yoo Joonghyuk"
Kim Dokja read the note once more before crumpling it in his hand. He felt a surge of anger. It had been such a long time since they had breakfast together.
After taking a moment to calm himself, Kim Dokja returned to the kitchen and ate the breakfast Yoo Joonghyuk had prepared. Then, he went to lie down on the couch and started reading some novels.
Glancing at the clock, he noticed it was already 6:00 pm. It was their movie night, and Kim Dokja expected Yoo Joonghyuk to join him since he had already missed the past six movie nights. He went ahead and prepared some popcorn and chose a movie for them to watch. Kim Dokja then texted Yoo Joonghyuk, asking when he would come home. Within a minute, he received a reply.
What time are you coming home hyukie? <
> I'm not, I'm still busy. I'll make it up to you tomorrow I promise. I'm sorry, babe.
Ah.. it's fine, can I know what's your doing? <
> I promised a friend that I will help them find an apartment. We found one already but they still need to fill up some papers
(authors note: I don't know what people do to rent an apartment, sorry if it doesn't make sense)

As Kim Dokja looked at the food he had prepared, a nagging thought crept into his mind: "Is she more important to him than I am?" He felt a twinge of insecurity, wondering if Yoo Joonghyuk's actions meant that he had been overshadowed by the presence of Lee Seolhwa. Disheartened, he decided to call it a night since he didn't have anything else to occupy his time.
After taking a shower, he wore the couple pajama he bought online. He went to bed and stared at the ceiling for awhile, before imagining a possible outcome for the stuff he has planned for in 4 days. He imagine that Yoo Joonghyuk would be putting a lot of effort on it, while apologizing for being distant for the past month. After awhile he finally fell asleep.
