"I don't know Jacob is pretty cute." Madison said as she dumped the remainders of her lunch into the trash can.
"Jacob? As in Jacob Matthews?" I asked feeling a pang of jealousy in my stomach.
"Yeah, the ones your friends with." She said, putting in the combination to her locker. She took out her English textbook.
"Are you going to study for the english final this weekend or are you just going to wing it?" I said trying to steer the subject away from Jacob.
"Yes, I haven't even opened the textbook yet." She said as I shook my head. "Anyways back to Jacob."
I must have made a face because Madison squinted her eyes at me.
"You know I never realized it, but you always want to change the subject when its about Jacob, in fact you never even seem to talk about him even though he's your best friend."
"So what?" I said playing around with my bracelet. She glanced down at my wrist and gasped.
"Aria, you totally like Jacob!"
"What?" I hissed "That's crazy, and be quiet before somebody hears you."
"So it's true?"
"No! No its just that I didn't want to tell you this but Jacob likes you!" I lied well it was partially the truth. Jacob did say he thought Madison was pretty a few times, not to mention he had the biggest crush on her three years ago when we were first starting highschool.
"Really?" She said as I saw her beginning to blush.
"Yeah." I instantly regretting what I had just said. The bell rung and she smiled at me.
"Let's go to study hall."
"Actually I think I'm going to skip today and go home early. You still up for that sleepover?" I asked as she began to walk backwards towards the library where study hall takes place.
"Yeah! See you later."
"Later." I mumbled as I went to my locker which was only a few lockers away from Madison's. I unzipped my backpack and stuffed my Calculus textbook inside. I checked my phone, seeing it was only 12:50. There was 15 minutes left for the public bus to arrive. I took my time walking to the office to sign myself out, which was one of the perks of being 18 in high school. After the of minutes waiting at the bus stop, the bus finally came.
"Good afternoon ma'am." The bus driver said as I placed the crisp dollar bill and quarter into the palm of her hand.
I took the first empty seat I saw and plugged my earphones into my iPod. I watched the scenery pass me by through the window. I always loved the ride from school back home, no one ever bothers anyone else on the bus, and if they do they'd end up being a friendly person just asking if the seat next to you is taken. The bus halted to a stop. I got up and mumbled a quiet 'thank you' as I exited the bus. I walked in the cool weather, with cool winds which was usually how the weather was in the month of September. I put on my hoodie and shoved my hands into my pockets, protecting me from the cold winds. After five minutes of walking I made it to my front door step. I opened the door and threw my backpack to the side.
"Blake? I'm home." I said, making my way over to the kitchen to pour myself a bowl of cheerios.
"Aren't you home a little early?" He yelled from the living room.
"Yeah but I signed myself out since I just had study hall. I'll be up in my room if you need me. Oh, and Madison's coming over." I said walking into the living room to see him sitting with some friend playing videos.
"Tonight?" He said and I nodded and left the room to wait for Madison to show.------------------------------------------------------Authors notes----------------------------------------------------------
