Life of a competitive cheerleader

Lucky teal

I woke up from my nap at 3:30 to my alarm . and I suddenly got a burst of happiness , excitement and nervousness Tonight was my first practice of this season . I sat up and walked over to my dresser and pulled out my pain black Nike pro shorts and my lucky teal sports bra . I was wearing this bra when we won all competitions up until worlds last season . It sounds weird but after we won our first comp in it and I got my full in it , it became lucky teal.

I go to my bathroom and slip them on and put on my plain white cheer shoes . I come out and plopp my self in front of my mirror . I don't really do much to myself for cheer practice , there no point really . So I just apply some foundation , powder , of course mascara and a thin line of black liner on top then just some matte red rosy lip balm . I don't really use bronzer except for comp for that emphasized look I already pretty much have a decent tan and I don't need it for practice so I skip it today . For my hair I just throw it up in a high ponytail , even in a pony it still reaches my shoulder blades .

After getting ready I walk into the kitchen grab my water an apple , and my keys off the counter and slip through the door and jog out the truck practice starts at 4:25 and its 3:50 I always like to be early to do warmups . I hop into my 2000 Tacoma and drive.

The gyms only a ten minute drive from my house so I get there quite fast . I park in my usual spot behind the gym . and start heading in I have my headphones blaring jets "cold hard b***h " and out of nowhere I hear a super loud honk that scares me and makes my headphones fall out and i look to my left to see a tundra stopped like 4 ft from me . "Dude ! " I screamed " watch it jerk " I can't make out anything besides its a guy maybe in his twenties the windows are tinted . he honks again and says "move it teal girl! and I start walking again not so slyly giving him the bird , and he returned the favor !

I finally make it into the gym and feel at home . I've been going to this gym since I was a little hot stuff competitor I was 6 . I suddenly see my bestfriend and twin flyer Abbey , I drop my gym bag and yell " aye Abby your so fine your so fine you blown my mind aye abbbayy aye aye abbey ! She turns around so fast with a huge grin on her face and screams back

" oh brookie your so pretty don't you know It's girls like you brookiee that make my heart brookieeoh Brookiee it's what you do brookieeeee "

We both laugh at the song we made up when were were 7 after we heard oh Mickey. I book it over to her , she wraps me in a huge hug , we hadn't seen each other in 3 months she was gone all summer in Alabama with her grandparents and now she's back .

"Awe Brooklyn I missed you so much " she said as she sighed , "It was a long summer without you "

"I know I missed you so much , but your back now and were gonna conquer worlds ... Together ".

We start to stretch when other girls start to arrive we were both some of the early ones . After stretching we start warm ups , since me and abbey are both flyers we both want to start some stunting . So I go get Bradley and tucker some of our best bases . Tucker's been my favorite base and good friend since I was 13 he's 2 years older than me . I called them over and we begin basic moves we start in standing formation and then 1..2..3..4 up In this stunt sequence we both start standing on both 2 hands of our bases then hop to 1 hand on 1..2 then we do basic half twist drop lift back up in 1..2..3 this time we start on one foot on one hand and go into a scorpion into a full twist and down . we all high five because we didn't mess up .

"Alright do it again , "except after the full twist go up then do a switch cradle" says our coach Courtney I've pretty much known her my whole life . me and Abby run over to her and give her a hug . "Alright girls go on same sequence but add the switch cradle .
There's nothing like the feeling of flung through the air it's so amazing I love it . we finish the full twist and go back up and are going into the switch cradle the switch cradle is where the 2 flyers switch places in air and the bases catch the other girl .

"And a 1.. 3... 5...7...8 " POSITIONS GIRLS! " We hear Courtney yell
"And switch"

Me and abbey look at each other then I jump it all feels slow mo when ur up ther but then I feel my legs wanting to turn like I'm doing a twist and i feel myself falling fast and prepare to fall hard or to land on tucker but I land in strong arms

"oh my god tuck I thou- I stop myself mid sentence when I look up and see that it's not tucker holding me . I've never seen this guy before he has these bright green eyes with dark gold in the middle and sharp features , with dark brown hair.

"You know you should really watch what your doing " he said in a annoyingly innocent tone while staring in my eyes.

I realized he was still holding me and I wiggled out of his Arms and said "excuse me ?! "

"I ,I i only messed up this time"I state

"Well from what I've seen today you don't watch around you that much you seem to be in your own world " he said a little to confident like he knew me .

"Ok woah you don't know me and what do you mean from what you've seen today

Well of course I do ... he said with a grin , your teal girl .

Oh my god you? your , your the jerk who almost ran me over today what are you doing here ? I questioned why the hell was he here and critiquing my skills , ugh something about this guy just ugh made me mad .

"And your teal girl , who was too busy rocking out to Jet to watch where you were going I didn't almost run you over, I unlike you was looking where I was going" he said with a cocky smirk

What are yo- I get interrupted by Courtney .

"Oh B this is drew the new senior elite co captain coach" !

Oh my god you have got to be kidding me , he cannot be the co coach captain.

Drew or the jerk stuck out his hand and said , " Nice to meet you teal girl I'm drew "

I roll my eyes, turn on my heels and start walking towards my team and think oh god what does this season have in store for me ?
