One day a man was going rock climbing, he was instructed very carefully what to do, and during the instructions he was on his phone. So after the lesson was over he went to put on his harness. He didn't strap it correctly, and when he went up the mountain he had confidence he would be fine. He had made it up halfway before deciding he was done and leapt off the cliff, unknowing that he was insecure. He fell to his death.

5 Years Later

Chad was hiking through a trail just at the base of that same mountain, when Chad was swatting at gnats, forgetting she had bug spray, she looked up and saw what looked to be a person climbing without any gear. She tried to yell out to them asking if they were okay, but they just ignored her, almost as if she didn’t exist.
Anyway she decided to carry on and go through with the rest of her hike.

3 Hours Later

It was approaching night and Chad was somewhat close to approaching the end of her trek, actually, she took a wrong turn 30 minutes ago so she was nowhere near where she should’ve been, thankfully she brought some camping gear. So she set it up, made some beans, went to the nearby creek to get some water, ate, drank, and put out the fire.

She went to bed at around 11:00 pm and woke up between 2:00 and 3:00 am. Immediately she remembered the myth that if you wake up between this time there is a 90% chance something was watching you sleep. She hurriedly runs out of the tent, holding her glock 19 she had in her camping gear. (It’s America, what do you expect?) She has a flashlight taped to the side of the barrel and turns it on. Frantically looking around she doesn’t notice the 6 feet 8 inch tall man looming just above her in the tree, except he’s not holding onto the tree branches, he has his hand and foot dug into the trunk, and he has a branch going through his stomach maybe even grazing his diaphragm and lungs. When Chad finally does notice the man, he jumps and digs what seem to be kitchen knives into the next tree and continues doing this until he reaches the top of the tallest tree in the area. He lets out an agonizing screech that sets off Chad’s tinnitus, a constant ringing in the ears, then proceeds to jump off the tree and attempt to stab Chad with his knife hands and shoes. Chad dodges but not perfectly he cuts her non dominant hand and proceeds to keep swiping at her, Chad shoots the Glock 19 and it deterred him a little but not by much. They then had a sort of game of cat and mouse but the role of cat was switching back and forth between between the two, bullets were fired and arms were swung, Chad brought a lot of ammo even though this trip wasn’t for hunting, the reason for so much ammunition being bears were all over the area she was hiking in, Chad predicted it would take more than a single clip to kill or deter a bear.  She thanks her past-self as she duels with this freak. Eventually it runs out of energy and begins to slow, it’s movements at this time Chad still has 3 clips left so she’s okay for now. But then the… man? Beast? Thing? It doesn't matter, it stops and proceeds to try and speak, “YoU’Re A sLy onE ARen’T YOu?”.  Chad didn’t pay any mind to this and proceeded to lift the Glock 19 and put her finger on the trigger, the bullet missed, but she didn’t know that, the monster faked getting hit and fell to the ground. Chad went up to the beast and looked at the stick in its stomach, she pulled it out and the monster then stood up and writhed in pain.
After the scream fest, it got fully up and hopped into the darkness. Chad figured that since this was the one time she saw the monster fully in pain, it was something that could actually hurt it, Chad decided she would go up to the summit of the mountain she was hiking under, since the monster went in the direction of it, that's probably where it went.

Chad had everything packed up in 30 minutes, she was determined to kill this thing. She trekked up the mountain for three hours until she heard a low breathing coming from somewhere ahead of her, she ran to the source and found a cave, and in that cave was the beast. Chad walked slowly up to it and got a good look at it since she had her flashlight out.
All over the monster’s body were scratches and scars, some still bloody, conveniently in the shape of the monster's claws. That’s when Chad had an epiphany, the only thing that can hurt the monster is itself, and that stick used to be a part of it. She got the stick, raised it up high and brought it down hard, unfortunately the monster tried to dodge it and she grazed its legs instead. The monster pushed Chad out of the cave and she tumbled nearly the whole way back down to the bottom, she was lucky she didn’t break her neck. But then the monster jumped from 100 feet up the mountain and poised its arms into a praying mantis-esque position, bloody and bruised, Chad meekly threw the stick at the beast, and it pierced through the heart, the monster then disappeared in a puff of smoke. Chad celebrated too early because while the monster disappeared, its arm and leg knives didn’t, Chad was unable to move from broken bones as the cutting utensils flew toward her. Cut to black, an ear piercing scream echoes into nothingness, cut back to Chad, a cold, stiff body lying on the ground covered in blood from stab wounds in the stomach, decapitated, cold and dirty, that’s how her final moments on this plane of existence were.
