I whimper and whine. I can't smell them yet, but I know it is only a matter of time. The orange moon is rising higher and higher into the sky as I watch out my window. When it is at its apex everything will click into place. Everything will finally make sense.
My eyes widen and a soft growl escapes my throat as his scent hits me full force. He's close. Closer than I would have guessed.
"Need mate... Must find him," I growl as I hit the bottom of the stairs.
A whimper and whine leave my lips as I stand in front of Jordan's door. I drag my claws down the door gently. Another whimper leaves my lips and I paw at the door some more.
"Jordan," I whine pitifully.
What I'm greeted with breaks my heart and causes me to curl in on myself.
"I'm busy, Rose... Come back in...twenty minutes," Jordan answers gruffly with a groan.
I may be young, but I know what he's doing in there and it hurts to know that he doesn't want me.
I turn to leave, my arms hanging at my sides, taking one last look at his door. I walk to the front door, looking like a kicked puppy, and open it. As I leave towards the woods, I don't bother closing the front door behind me. Each step I take is slow and full of immense pain. The leaves crunch under my feet and the smell of damp earth settles my aching heart.
I sit under a tree a ways into the woods with my knees under my chin. I know I'll be fine without a mate. I always have family. Malia, Derek and Peter will be there for me. I'll be okay. I don't need a mate, right?
