"If I'm not Rebecca, who AM I?"
"I told you, you're Sophia Potter. You were believed to be dead."
"So, why did everyone think I was dead?"
"Well, first let me explain who you are. You are SOPHIA POTTER. You are a witch."
"WHAT?"
"I know what you're thinking. Raised as a Muggle-"
"Muggle?"
"Ah, we call non-magical people Muggles. But as you were raised as a Muggle, you think of witches as horrible creatures that do evil. But witches are in fact just humans with magical abilities."
"Oh. So, why'd everyone think I was dead?"
"Sometimes, wizards and witches go bad, no, they don't become awful creatures Muggles imagine, but become evil. The strongest was Lord Voldemort, most wizards fear the name."
"And witches too?"
"Yes, but.. hmm... how to explain this... Muggle actors, the males are actors, and females are actresses. But when referring to them as a group, you simply say actors. We do the same with witches and wizards."
"Oh. Okay."
"Anyway, Voldemort came and murdered both your parents. You have a twin brother, by the way. Your brother stopped Voldemort. Your mother died for him, and her love protected him. It would have protected you too, but there was no need. Voldemort had no idea of your existance. He didn't much care about it either. He was told that a boy born in late July would be his downfall, so he tried to murder Harry Potter, your brother. You were believed to have either been killed by Voldemort, or crushed to death by the rubble. Even Hagrid was unable to find you."
"So, how'd you know I was alive?"
"There's a colleague of mine that lives nearby."
"How'd he know who I was?"
"Why, you look just like your mother did at your age, when my colleague first met her. Until school begins, you will be staying at his house."
"Where am I going to school anyway?"
"You will be going to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, the school at which I am headmaster."
"Oh. Okay."
