Double Take (Ran Haitani x Y/N)

A heavy sigh coming from the silver-haired female filled the room. Her facial expression was a mix of disappointment and frustration. The male in braids, lying on the double-decker bed, peeped at the situation. He sighed, too, and jumped on the younger male sitting across the girl who was scanning some papers.

"Did you disappoint Y/N again?" Ran teasingly asked while tackling his younger brother.

"Brother!!" the younger one grunted while trying to reach for his eye glasses on the table.

"Ran," Y/N called out, "let go of Rindou. He's turning blue!" She laughed.

Y/N was a year younger than Rindou but was in the same class as him. She knew the Haitani brothers as the popular delinquents in Roppongi and never thought that she would be in touch with them one day. Nobody in their class wanted to be associated with the brothers as they were known to be brutal delinquents who killed a gang leader at the age of 13. They were known as The Charismatic Haitani Brothers, Rulers of Roppongi.

"Well, I guess that's it for tonight, boys. I'm taking my leave," Y/N started preparing her things, putting some books and pens back in her bag. She stood up and reached for the door. "Rin," she paused, trying not to laugh, "I don't know what to do with you anymore."

Rindou rolled his eyes and crossed his arms. "Then don't come back here anymore! I told you I don't wanna do this!"

Y/N shook her head and chuckled as she turned her back on them. Before she could turn the doorknob, she felt another hand on hers. To her surprise it was Ran. He smiled at her and offered to walk her home as a reward for being patient with Rindou.

It was almost the end of December and schools were about to go on winter break. Snow started early in November and nights had become chilly. During this time of the year, the city was filled with Christmas lights, and buildings adorned their establishments with creative decorations. Coffee shops, on the other hand, were often jam-packed with customers looking for warmth and comfort.

Ran, who was walking side by side with Y/N, subtly looked at her sideways. He blushed a little as he watched her warm her hands by rubbing them together. He smiled to himself as he studied how Y/N tucked her silver strands behind her ears. Y/N caught a glance of him staring at her. Her sea green orbs stared back at him in wonder. Some would be embarrassed when they get caught staring, but not Ran. In fact, he felt relieved that Y/N noticed. Ran's purple eyes beamed in delight as he flashed a grin. He took out a pair of bluetooth earphones from his pocket and offered the other piece to Y/N.

"It's nice to walk around the city during this time of the year," Ran said while browsing on his mobile phone. "Roppongi is much livelier during the Christmas season."

Y/N, accepting the other piece of the earphones, shrugged. "I wouldn't know. I wouldn't dare stroll around the city. Alone. At night."

Unconsciously, Ran held Y/N's hand and continued walking while still leafing through his phone. When he found what he was looking for, he proposed, "Let's play some music while I show you around Roppongi." He turned to her and smiled charmingly.

Ignoring Ran's hand holding hers, Y/N just nodded in agreement.

The Haitani brothers built their name through delinquency. At an early age, they engaged in brawls and even got sent to juvie for killing a gang leader. This started their authority among all other groups in Roppongi and they were feared by many. Despite gaining an infamous image, the brothers had a charm among women. Girls would swoon over and follow them around, handing over love letters, chocolates, and whatnots. Ran, being mischievous, would flirt back at times. But none of those girls really caught his attention. They were just there for entertainment. On the other hand, Rindou would just ignore them and display his usual cold demeanor.
