2:47am
I woke up to the sound of a crying child. The peircing sound of Henry's wail ripped through my eardrums as I whipped out of my bed. I sluggishly moved over to the side of the white wooden cot and picked up my child, holding him close while rocking side to side. I let his head rest on my shoulder as I walked to the bedroom door. I twisted the handle and shuffled down the hall to the kitchen with Henry still crying into my shoulder.

I heated a up a bottle in the microwave using one hand, the other cradling Henry. The microwave beeped and I removed the bottle, placing the bottle in Henry's hands. He was 11 months old meaning he was capable of holding the bottle on his own. I kissed his forehead as he slurped and sucked on the bottle. The corners of his mouth turned up as he drank and I couldn't help but smile a little myself. Henry was my all. He was my life.

8:01am

I rolled over and stared in Henry's direction.  He was fast asleep. Peace and quiet. I adjusted my eyes to my pre-packed suitcase and remembered that I was flying out to America to visit my friend. I was dropping Henry at my best friend, Alison's, house at 9:00am then I would hire a taxi straight to the airport from there.

I managed to push myself up from against my mattress and kicked my legs out onto the side of the bed and then to the floor. I pushed my golden brown hair over the top of my head to remove it from my face. I used my hands to push my self up off the bed before walking into the bathroom to get myself looinking somewhat decent.
