So halfway through writing this book, I decided to change the plot. There wasn't much of a plot to begin with, but I needed a new idea. This is a draft of a part from Davin's POV that depicts what happened to him and Evelyn after he went missing in one idea I had. This is pretty random, and I'm glad I didn't use this idea for the book, but I wanted to put it out there, in case anyone wants to read it.

The Science of Words, Part ?: The Smartest Villain Ever

I wake up to crying. I try to sit up, but my head won't stay up.

"Evelyn?" I ask tentatively.

I hear the crying slow a little.

"Rian?" I hear Evelyn ask.

"No, it's Davin." I say.

I'm lying on the floor, which is normal for me, but instead of the hardwood floor of my bedroom, this floor is rough, hard stone. It's utterly dark, inhumanly dark, as if all the light in the whole world has been snuffed out. It's possible I've gone blind, though that seems unusual, as I was in perfect health and had perfect vision the last I remember.

"Evelyn, can you see?" I ask.

"I'm scared," Evelyn whimpers.

"But can you see?"

"I'm scared, Davi, pick me up."

"I'm sorry about that, but I need you to tell me if you can see." I ask her, starting to get annoyed, even though I know she's just a young child and I can't expect her to act any different then a young child acts.

"No, can't see. Where are you?" She wails.

"Hmm..." I say, thinking. I don't know where we are, but it's definitely not where we're supposed to be. Furthermore, I haven't noticed any other signs of human presence, and if we are alone in here, that may become a significant problem, as I am not very capable of entertaining and caring for Evelyn for long periods of time, as experience has shown. I am capable of sustaining her life for long periods of time, but that's isn't really enough when it comes to toddlers. Of course, there may be other people here with us, but the fact that I haven't noticed their presence yet also leans toward a problem: the fact that they aren't showing any noticeable signs of life most likely means they are dead or close to death, and I don't know where to locate a doctor or other health provider. I have a basic knowledge of first aid, and may be able to keep them alive, but the chances of that are not very high.

"Davi!" Evelyn screams. "Davi, where are we? I want Rian!"

"Evelyn, I have not been able to ascertain where we are yet, but I have a fifty-four point nine two percent chance of ascertaining where we are within the next five years, if I stay alive that long, which is so far undetermined. As far as I am able to tell, Rian is not here in this room with us, though it is possible she is nearby. If Rian is in this room, she is probably gravely injured or dead. I am sorry that you feel a desire for her, but there is not anything I can do about it."

Evelyn, being a toddler, only caught one single part of what I said--apparently the wrong part, since her reaction was negative, though I was not saying anything that would be directly defined as negative.

"Rian...dead?" And she starts crying in a totally different way, very sadly.

"It is...not probable." I say, trying to calm her down.

Evelyn doesn't calm in the least, though I really didn't expect her too, since I have never tried to calm her down and succeeded before.

I get up off the ground slowly, my body bursting into tingling pain as I stand. I carefully make my way around the room, examining every aspect of it that I can.
