This Breath Style is the complete personal creation of Himari Aoyagi who designed it to include both components of her two older sister's respective Breath Style. Hence, the style includes both slashing and thrusting to inject fatal poisons all using a unique katana with needle-like tip, resembling that of a insect's stinger in function and appearance. The "stinger" is designed for inject of wisteria poison into demons. However, the rest of the katana functions as a typically katana would; albeit thinner and lighter.

Most, if not all, known techniques and forms include stabbing, thrusting, making shallow cuts with a poison coated blade to inject lethal wisteria-based poisons, but in contrast with the Breath Style's contrasting styles that include flurries of deep slashes aiming to decapitate the user's opponent. Users of Breath of Butterflies visualize themselves seemingly manifesting butterflies of vivid colors when unleashing its techniques.
