Yeah, this has been a long time coming.
The story is not abandoned, technically speaking. I still like the idea and want to write it. But, here's the thing. This was my first story, and at this point it really shows. I don't really like how closely I stuck to One Piece scene by scene, and I feel like I've become better at writing at this point and can do this story a lot better. I've had a lot of ideas for the direction I want this to go, but none of them will work with the way I've written it so far either. While real life and work have also kept me busy, I think my own disappointment at the quality of this story is what's mostly keeping me from writing it. Just going back and reading the first few chapters makes me cringe at myself.
But, like I said, I don't want to abandon it. So I've decided that I'll be doing a full rewrite instead.
But I don't want to just start posting as soon as a chapter's done like I did before either. I'm gonna be taking my time with the rewrite and only start posting when I feel comfortable with it. I'll probably write it up all the way until Logue Town or even after Alabasta before I start posting it.
I really wanted to avoid a rewrite and work with what I had, but I just feel it isn't possible anymore. So sorry for keeping everyone waiting for so long!
Once I'm ready and have the first chapter posted eventually, I'll update this one last time with the announcement before later deleting it. I won't delete this version off my fanfiction account though, so you can still read it there. I hope everyone is understanding with this.
