Hello again! This is the second to last chapter, and I hope you enjoy it! The writers block (for both this fic and whatever my next may be) is serious, so it may be a bit before the last one. Sorry :>

Jimmy was happier than he could ever remember being, even as he watched Scott’s face fall. He stopped laughing, although he was still grinning like an idiot. He pulled out his ring as well, holding it out in the same fashion as Scott had. Scott immediately got why he was laughing, and started cracking up as well, even through his tears. Though he knew he didn’t need to say it, Jimmy said the word he knew Scott wanted to hear.
“Yes.”
———
That was three weeks ago, and now Scott flying towards the Overgrown to ask Katherine to be the flower girl. Gem had already agreed to officiate, Pix was the best man, and Shubble was the maid of honor. The tow of them had worked tirelessly for the past week at least decorating the church for the wedding.
As he flew over the Crystal Cliffs, something exploded in the distance. Flaming chunks of debris flew over his head, forcing him to fly higher, to the point where the air was nearly too thin to breathe. He heard his communicator chime, and pulled it out.
Meet at spawn. 5 minutes.
He changed directions, flying towards the center of the server. As he flew, he saw tons of wreckage below- more pieces of burning deepslate.
He touched down near Lizzie and Joel, who were sitting in a corner of the spawn, whispering. He looked around frantically for Jimmy, but couldn’t find him.
A few minutes of frantic worrying later, Scott spotted someone else flying in. Someone wearing green.
Jimmy landed in a panic, shouting something about Fwip. Scott clung to him frantically, asking if he was okay and why he was late. Jimmy just shouted, over and over again, “Fwip! He’s dead!” Scott made him sit down on one of the tree stumps around the circle, next to him, and asked him to tell them what happened.
“We were trying to generate a new power source. Fwip built a reactor, where we could try combining cod and salmon.” Scott might have laughed if it weren’t for the shock and grief in his fiancée’s eyes. “It exploded, taking most of the Grimlands with it. I was blown clear, and managed to catch myself with the elytra. But Fwip- I don’t know what happened to Fwip.” He hunched forward, putting his head in his hands. Scott put a hand to his back. “The explosion was large enough that it could have sent debris to all of the empires.”
“Well, then everyone go check!” Lizzie shouted, already launching off. Scott turned to Jimmy, who was already on his feet.
“Do you want me to come with you-“ Jimmy cut across him.
“Go check on your empire. Please,” he added.
“I love you, and I’ll see you soon,” Scott said, launching off. Distantly, he thought he could hear Jimmy shout something, but he was too far away to hear it.
———-
Scott only had one thing on his mind when he was flying towards his empire: please don’t let the ice with the crystal break. Please don’t let it have broken- He flew as fast as possible, passing over the Lost Empire, then the Crystal Cliffs, then, at last-
“No! Nononononono-“ The church was gone. It had exploded from the inside, and it took only a few seconds (once he had landed) to determine that the ice had in fact broken. He whirled around and, in one movement, launched back into the sky. He flew to one of the hills above Rivendell, to where some of the ominous corrupted spikes had returned. He had barely landed in the space between the spikes when a flash of light blinded him.
Xornoth stepped out from behind a spike. When his vision cleared, he could see the glowing cage around himself. Xornoth laughed.
Scott was trapped.
