Chapter Three - Unnatural Occurrences

MOMONGA POV - K.O. BURGER DRIVE-THROUGH

After finishing his first day at school, Momonga decided to accompany his new friend Jack to his job at K.O Burger. The younger student seemed rather lonely, and the Overlord thought it best to offer him a little support as he worked his shift.

That's why Momonga was currently standing beside the main window of the restaurant's drive-through, with Jack inside working on people's orders. He continued shifting against the brick wall of the establishment before addressing his fellow student.

"You know,"  Momonga began,  "I never expected you to have a job."  A powerful yawn escaped the Lich's feigned throat as he shifted his gaze towards Jack -who was still working inside the restaurant- in search of any sort of reaction.

Jack sighed before responding.  "It wasn't really my choice, Suzuki; my mom was tired of me not making any money, so she convinced her friend to give me a job."  Momonga released a quiet hum in response to his friend's aggravated tones, thinking to himself.

"Huh....I suppose that makes sense, considering you don't pay rent."  the Overlord stated half-heartedly as he looked up towards the clouds, rays of sunlight glistening through the cracks and pressing against his feigned skin.

The two of them continued talking until Momonga noticed someone pulling into the parking lot. Looking towards them, he spotted a slim woman in black clothes riding upon a vibrant, blue Motorcycle. The Overlord couldn't help but ponder inwardly.

'That girl seems to have a decent wage if she can afford a Motorcycle.'  Though clearly impressed by her choice of vehicle, Momonga couldn't help but feel untrusting of the woman's sudden appearance.  'That being said, what is she doing at a fast food joint?'

He was immediately dragged from his monologue by Jack who was leaning out of the drive-through window, seemingly done with today's shift. There was a moment of silence between them before he suddenly spoke up.  "You okay, Suzuki?"

Momonga -not wanting to raise any suspicion towards himself- offered a quick nod of affirmation before looking back towards the lady on the bike, only to find there was no one occupying the blue Motorcycle anymore.

'What!? But how!?'  Momonga screeched as his brain went into overdrive, desperate to uncover what'd occurred within the five seconds he looked away.  'No human can move that fast, unless....'  the Undead immediately checked his surroundings.

'Is there another YGGDRASIL player here?'   he thought to himself.  'Perhaps they're a stealth build and wanted to avoid confrontation. Maybe They're not a threat.'  Though somewhat comforted by his thoughts, Momonga was still nervous.

Utilising his magic reserves, the Overlord silently cast [High Tier: Discern Entity] in an attempt to locate the mysterious woman. The spell eventually reported back to Momonga, informing him there was no one nearby higher than LV1.

This snippet of information left him dumbfounded; if he wasn't being followed by a player, then how did that woman suddenly disappear from sight? Not to mention she'd seemingly abandoned her only means of transportation.

It wasn't until Momonga scanned the parking lot once more that he noticed another unnatural presence; a rose-coloured Ferrari Enzo with a set of tinted, black windows to prevent anyone viewing the inside. The Overlord could only frown at the sight.

'What the hell? That car wasn't there before....'  he remained silent for a moment as he analysed the vehicle's intricate design, the sunlight glimmering upon its smooth frame. Doubtfully, he tilted his head to the side  '....or maybe it was?'
