By Your Side Through Thick And Thin (Wangxian)

Prologue

Lan Zhan sat in the Cloud Recesses library pavilion practicing his writing by copying his family's rules when the doors to the library had opened gaining his attention.

"Wangji"

"Xiongzhang"

Lan Xichen smiles as Lan Zhan sets down the scroll and brush before standing up to properly greet him. He puts his hands into the form of a circle, one hand making the form of a fist and the flat. Lan xichen does the same before continuing.

"Shufu has everything prepared, we'll be leaving for Lotus Pier shortly"

"Mm..."

Lan Zhan silently sighs as he sits back down, Lan xichen walks over sitting down beside him.

"Wangji"

This time Lan Zhan doesn't look up at him as he picks the brush dipping it into the ink a few times before gently wiping the brush against the side of the tray getting rid of the dripping ink. Today was the day they were supposed to see their mother but yet again something had come up stopping them.

'Does mother not want to see us?'

A small barely noticeable frown appears on his face, if it was anyone else they probably wouldn't have noticed it but Lan Xitchen could always tell when something was wrong with Lan Zhan.

"Wangji, we'll see mother next time"

Lan Xichen tries to give Lan Zhan a reassuring smile but both of them knew he couldn't assure they'd see her next month either.

After a while of traveling on the boat through the quiet waters they had arrived at Lotus Pier,When they had arrived one of the Jiang clan disciplines had grabbed a rope tying the boat to the docks making sure it wouldn't drift away during their visit.Lan Qiren and Lan Xichen got off first followed by Lan Zhan.

"Lan Qiren,Lan Xichen,Lan Wangji welcome to Lotus Pier.I hope the trip wasn't too much trouble"

Jiang Fengmian greets them.

"Of course not,Thank you for having us"

"Follow me,I'll have someone bring us some tea and we'll chat"

Everyone follows Jiang Fengmian into the building of Lotus Pier,They eventually stop inside a small conference room.Lan Zhan sits next to Lan Xichen moving one of the sitting pillows from another table and placing it next to his.

"Wangji! move the pillow back you getting too big to be sharing with your brother!"

Lan Qiren scolds as Lan Zhan moves the pillow back in place.Now sitting at a large table by himself.Lan Xichen turns giving Lan Zhan an apologetic smile,He faces Lan Qiren and listens to what they were talking about sometimes adding in a comment as he slowly slide his own pillow to the edge of his table,still at his own but a closer to Lan Zhan.Lan Qiren shakes his head but doesn't comment as they continued talking.

Lan Zhan didn't know how long they were talking,He wasn't really listening luckily no one seemed to notice otherwise he was he'd get yelled at.

"Wangji"

Lan Xichen's voice brings him out of his thoughts.

"Shufu and Jiang Fengmian are just catching up now.Why don't we go on a walk?"

"Mm"

Little Lan Zhan nods getting up from the ground,he brushes himself off before the both of them had left.Soon they had arrived at the market,People crowed around different carts and small shops.Unknowingly something or perhaps someone had caught Lan Xichen's attention but Lan Zhan didn't notice as he kept walking.
