Once the anthem was done, me and Katniss were assured off the stage and lead to the justice building, where we were directed towards rooms to say our final goodbyes.

The room was beautiful, but I refused to look at it. Instead I focused on the floor.

I sat on the couch covered in a soft fabric as the door opened. I look up to see Gale with his mom. Gale runs over and wraps me in a huge, "You stupid reckless idiot! Y-you took my p-place! W-why did y-you t-take m-my place!" And with that, he's crying. I wrapped my arms around his waist and pulled him into a hug, "I took your place because that's what I do. I'm loyal to the people I care about. I'm not going to send you to the slaughterhouse when I can go instead." Gale buries his head in the crook of my neck. I love Gale and Katniss like siblings, and seeing Gale so scared and broken made my heart shatter.

"I-I'm so lost Pery, I don't want either of you to die!" He wailed, "I don't want to lose either of you, but yet I may just lose both."

"What if I told you, I was going to bring Katniss back home safe?" He lifted his head and looked my dead in the eye, "I know you'll try to get her home, meaning your death, which.... I don't want to think about, but please, please, please, if she dies, an option I-I also really don't want to think about, please, come back home. I don't think Mrs Everdeen could lose you both, hell, I can't lose you both."

I smiled softly, "I promise, I will make sure one of us makes it back."

I feel a tap on my shoulder and look up to see Gale's Mother holding out a small box. "our mother gave this to me a long time ago. She said to give it to you if you ever entered the games. She had hoped that you would never have to see it but..." I nodded, understanding what she meant and took the box as Gale got off my lap and sat down next to me. I opened it and saw a chain with a trident charm looped through it. It was a sea-blue, the same colour as my eyes. I smiled, and looked up at Gale's Mother and whispered, "Thank you."

She nodded, then said one more thing, "She wanted it to be your token for the arena..." I looked  back down at the necklace, "Yeah, I'll wear it in the Arena." Then there was a knock on the door, "Times up." The gruff voice of a peacekeeper. Gale nodded, gave me one last hug and walked out the door with his mother. I looked at the necklace for one more minute before putting it around my neck.

It was a short, silent ride to the train station. When we stepped out of the vehicle, a car which me nor Katniss had ever been in before, we were met by tons of people who were flashing their insect-like cameras trying to get a better view of us. I just smirked, and decided that the Capital with face the full force of Persassy.

I entered the train and sat down in the first chair I saw, while Effie explained that we each had our own room with clothes, a changing room, and bathroom. I nodded as the train started moving. From what I could tell this was one of the Capital's high-speed trains, meaning we would be at the Capital in around a day from now.

"I'm going to go check out the rooms now," I said to Effie Trinket and Katniss, then walked to my room. Well it was less like a bedroom and more like the first floor of a house. It had a changing room and bathroom built into it and the bed was giant. I walked over to the giant bed and flopped onto it, starting at the ceiling. I would have stayed there if it wasn't for my extremely short attention span.

I sighed an sat up, walking over to the bathroom. It had shiny stone tiling, white walls, a sink, mirror, toilet, cabinet, cupboard, and shower. I walked over to the mirror and looked at myself, I had black side-swept hair that made it look like I had just come back from swimming, sea-blue eyes, tanned skin, white teeth, and a scar that jutted out from my cheek, that was given to me by Gabe, my first step-father. He used most of our cash to buy alcohol from the Hob, making me and my mom go hungry. He was caught stealing and was shot by a Peacekeeper, and no one really cared.

I sighed and turned away from the mirror, it wasn't that the way I looked, or couldn't stand looking at myself, it was because those weren't the best memories and I would rather forget them. I walked over to  the cupboard and opened it, revealing a bunch of towels. I turned and looked at the shower, contemplating whether to use it or not. I just shrugged, why not? It would be a few days till I was fighting to the death, might as well savour what I have left.

I turned on the water, and took off the dress-shirt and black pants that I had worn for the Reaping, as well as the necklace Gale's mother had given me, set them on the dresser, and stepped into shower, willing myself to get wet.

It was this weird thing about me, I could only get wet if I wanted to, or I stayed dry. I found that out when I was running home in the rain.

Later, I found out I could control water and other liquids, as well as 'Vapor trail'.

My abilities were my ace card. One of the only real weapons I had on me at all times, and that I knew how to use. I was also good with a sword, spear, and close-range jab-by weapons,  hand-to-hand combat, and the bow-and-arrow and crossbow.

I moved my hands through my hair under the warm water, washing out years of grit and dirt. The water felt good on my skin, like rain, but warmer.

I stood there for a few more minutes before turning the water off and stepping out. Drying myself with a towel, not risking anyone asking why I was bone-dry after having a shower.

I stepped back into the main room and walked over to the dresser, pulling out a black tank-top, boxers, and a pair of grey pants. I quickly changed into the outfit, then walked back into the bathroom and picked up the trident necklace, and looked up at myself in the mirror.

My hair was getting long...

I moved two strands of hair and used them to tie up the rest, but I did a pretty bad job, so chunks of hair escaped the top and bottom of the awful ponytail. I sighed in defeat as Effie Trinket's called, "Dinner!"

I sighed and slipped on the necklace then walked back out of the bedroom and into the dining compartment. I was greeted by the sight of Effie venting out the tributes from District 12, while Katniss rolled her eyes, and started eating with her hands.

I couldn't help but let out a snort at the face Effie made, then sat down next to Katniss and devoured as much food as possible.
