Olivia's POV
I walked out of the ally to my house. Every step i took felt heavy and it wasn't the bag. I saw a bench and i walked over to sit. I putted my bag down between my legs. And i dropped my head on my hands. I couldn't believe what hadn't happened. I've done something that's been holding me back all these years. I let him choose. "Are you okay?". I heard a voice say. I looked up and it was Antonio. "Oh hello Antonio. Yes i'm fine thank you.". I lifted my head from my hands and looked at the boy who was standing before me. Immediately a bird came upon his shoulder and began to chirp. Antonio sat listening intently to what that bird was saying. When the chatter was gone he looked at me. "You had a conversation with my brother?".
I laughed under my breath. "I can't hide anything from you either." I tapped my finger on his nose and he laughed a little. He then sat down next to me and laid his head against me. I saw and heard the bird chirp again and Antonio answer. "The birds want to know what you think.". *Chuckle*. "Oh do they, suddenly want that. Since when are they interested in my love life." I put my hand to my mouth on that last sentence. Damn I shouldn't have said that to a 14 year old! Antonio who looked at me with his thinking eyes. "It's complicated Antonio. Something you wouldn't understand so quickly." I brushed my hair away from my face and looked up at the blue sky. It's a clear blue sky with not a single cloud. I felt a hand on my shoulder and turned to Antonio. "It'll be fine. I'm sure." And with that, Antonio walked away. What a smartass that kid is.
I sat quietly on the bench for a while. I was watching all the townspeople clear out the market. Until it was time to go home. I opened the door with my bag of cloths. "Liv!!!! There you are at last!! It's for me!". Sofia said cheerfully as she looked at the bag. "Is the other one for me. Please give!!". Carter yelled. *Laugh*. "You won't get it until he's done." They looked at me disappointed. But that was soon over when Grandma called out for dinner.
-Next day-
The next day I was up early. I couldn't sleep much so i was awake before the people in town were busy. I sat in the same place where Mamá used to sit. Playing with my medallion I looked outside. How quiet the streets were, you could see everyone waking up peacefully. And you saw the Madrigal house slowly blossom. "Good morning Delores. Hope you slept well." The peace was short lived as Carter, Sofia and Matteo came down. "Liv!!! Did you sleep well!". Sofia said cheerfully. I nodded in response. But Mateo was the only one who noticed where I was sitting. He smiled a little worried and then led the twins into the kitchen. I sighed and then stood up to help Mateo.
Camilo POV
We were all sitting at the table having breakfast. I popped a sandwich in my mouth when I saw Delores laughing. "What?". I asked with a full mouth. Delores looked up and rolled her eyes. "You know it's not nice to talk with a full mouth." Delores said right away. I took another bite of my sandwich in protest and she rolled her eyes again. "It was Olivia, she was up early." I looked at Delores intently. "I think she's sitting in her mother's old chair." Delores smiled softly. And Mum looked at her with relief. "Poor children. They've been through so much in the last few years." Abuella nodded at Mom's will. "Certainly, the loss of their home. Of their parents and almost each other.". I looked a little sad at my plate with those thoughts.
I wish I could be there for her then. I looked at my plate but my appetite for food had suddenly disappeared. I took a sip of my drink and pushed my plate aside. Delores who looked at me crazy and so did Mirabelle. After dinner we all went to town to do our chores. But my head wasn't there. My head was almost in the clouds. Because I bumped into everyone. Finally i sat down on a bench. I felt my head spinning my hands started shaking. I was gasping for air. Until i saw Lela walking up to me. She grabbed my hand and started talking. She didn't even notice that i could'nt catch my breath. She talked and talked none stop. Then i saw Olivia walking at the market with Carter and Sofia. I smiled and i took a deap breath.
