Chapter 1

The room was dark and I started drifting asleep while the teacher started going over the new vocab. "Dawson." I hear a sharp voice snap at me. "Dawson Percy. Are you sleeping while I'm going over vocab." Even though my eyes are closed I can feel the whole class looking at me. It's weird actually. I can tell everyone is looking at me. Judging. I slowly pull my head up and look up at Ms. Duncan my Ela teacher. "No Ma'am I was just picturing the words in my head." She scoffed. "Well how about you picture these words. Detention next Friday." Detention again. This is the 4th one this year. All because of me sleeping in class. I haven't t been able to sleep at home so I've just been taking short naps in my classes. Ms Duncan is my final teacher for the day.  Once she's done with the notes the bell rings for dismissal. "Dawson. Do you ever sleep" I look over to the voice and I see it came from my best friend Rae. "What can I say. Sleeping on desks is a lot easier." She scoffs. "Heyyy Rae my best friend, my platonic sole mate. Could you do me a small favor." We talk as we head to my car. "Let me guess, you want me to lend you my vocab notes." "When did you get so smart." She laughs as she rolls her eyes. This always happens. I'll fall asleep in class and Rae will all ways give me the notes. "This is the last time though." She also always says this. "But you owe me an ice cream". "Of course my queen." I playfully bow. As we get into my car.
