Jonathan took his own car back to the hotel and followed me until we got there. It was around ten o'clock at night, and it really amazed me that he hadn't felt the need to eat for the entire day. He came up to me as I fumbled out of my car. I saw his arm extended. I smiled and took his hand, and he helped me out.

"So..." He began when he wasn't a foot away from me, and he had that tone.

"So, I think you should go and eat something," I said, trying to revert the conversation away from what he was thinking. He noticed that and let out an embarrassed chuckle.

"Okay, okay, I can take a hint. I'm sorry for just showing up out of the blue and basically forcing you to become my friend."

In the low light of the parking lot, I saw his eyes sadden. "I'm sorry, Jonathan. We can be friends, for sure. Actually, I really hope we can be. You're the first tall person I've met in my life. Everyone else is just..."

"Short?"

I saw a playful smirk emerge on his lips. "Yeah."

"Well, I'm happy to be your friend. Can we meet again? I mean, so I can give you Elvis's and Joan's autograph."

Or he could give them to me now. But I wanted to go along with this. "Sure. Tomorrow, well, I'm never sure how long Phil wants me on the set. Usually it's from morning until it gets dark, but sometimes he lets me go around lunchtime."

Jonathan nodded. "I see. How about you give my hotel room a ring when you get back? I'll be in all day tomorrow talking on the phone with my family who will most likely be talking my ear off about today. Katie, especially. She was in love with Elvis the second she saw him on TV back in '56."

So was I. "Okay. Um, where are you staying?"

He looked at the hotel then back at me. "Right here."

My mouth opened, surprised. "Right here?"

"Yep. Talk about coincidence, right? Honest to God, I had no idea that you were staying here. I'm in room 108."

I nodded, pretty amused by this situation. "Okay. Yeah, when I get back, we can meet up and you can regale me with your family's reaction to you meeting Elvis."

"I think I might be def by that time since Katie would be screaming with glee in my ear for an hour straight. I tell ya... she's really going to faint from getting Elvis's autograph."

"You should've seen my best friend Shelly's reaction when meeting him. I don't think I've seen her more happy."

"Oh... you mean that brunette with the long hair with you? The one who had to leave around lunchtime?"

"Yeah, that's her. She totally forgot that she had a previous engagement." I saw his smile and pink cheeks. "Hold on... Jonathan, you thought she was pretty, didn't you?"

"You all were pretty. I admit, I had my eyes more on you. But, we'll see how this all turns out. I mean, you never know... After the Elvis hype, you my give me a chance."

This poor guy was hopeful that something would happen between us... that was unfortunate. "Well... okay, we'll see. Now, walk a girl inside?"

"I'd be happy to."

He held out his arm, and I took it, thinking I didn't have a choice. He dropped me off at my room then left to go down to his. I slumped on my bed as I held my purse, as well as... Elvis's camera.

I ached to talk to him and know what he was going to say to me. I had ideas, but... it was best not to think about them if I hoped of getting any sleep. It was rare when life was better than your dreams.
