How can you be sure that you love someone? Is it when you feel butterflies in your stomach? When your heart beats fast? When you want to see this person every day, or when you can let them go when it's no longer right? Maybe.
"Kierex," I began softly. "I've been trying to understand... What went wrong between us?" my voice trembling with a mix of sadness and frustration.
They say that a relationship isn't always about roses and gifts; it's about love. They say a successful relationship requires falling in love many times, always with the same person. But in my opinion, they're wrong. When it comes to a relationship, love is not always enough to keep it successful.
"I wish I had a simple answer, Elly. But I think it was a culmination of things... Maybe we stopped listening to each other, or perhaps we lost sight of the dreams we once shared." mahina niyang sambit. "I don't think either of us wanted this to happen, Elly. But somewhere along the way, we forgot how to communicate openly. We started keeping things to ourselves, hiding our fears and insecurities until they became walls between us." dagdag niya pa.
Tumango ako sa kaniya. "I miss us, Kierex. I miss the laughter, the warmth of your embrace, and I miss everything about us. How did we let it slip away?" I chuckled.
Hindi siya nagsalita at nanatili lamang ang tingin sa mga kamay ko na nakahawak sa mga kamay niya, na tila ayaw na pakawalan.
Tears trickled down on my cheeks as I squeezed Kierex's hand tightly. "I still love you, Kierex. But maybe... maybe love isn't always enough."
And that was the most stupid decision na nagawa ko sa buong buhay ko, because I thought that maybe sometimes love means letting go. And in my case, na-realized ko na the true definition of love is to keep choosing that person even when the love has faded because you are committed and need to stand by it.
