*BEEP BEEP*
My alarm going off. . .
"mmm... I don't want to get up..." I grumble.
Just then, my ecstatic neighbor, Jane, bursts through my door.
"FELIZ CUMPLEANOS!" she excitedly yells in her bad Spanish. She feels that she needs to use her Spanish as much as possible to learn the language. She smells wonderful. Jane is a beautiful young girl of about my age. Her hair is long, dark, and wavy. She always seems to have this wonderful scent to her. Indescribably wonderful.
"Why aren't you up yet, sleepy head?" she questions me in her angelic voice, so sweet and comforting. As beautiful and friendly as she is. "Get up! I made you something!"
". . . can't it wait?' I question her with my grumble voice. I try covering my head with my blanket, but only fail, seeing as how she is sitting on my bed by this point. Jane has been a friend of mine since I moved here. It has been so long that she just comes and goes into my house as if it were just another room in her extensive house.
"well, I suppose so" she responds with disappointment in her voice.
"fine! I'm getting up! Just... just go outside." Having been close friends for so long, she feels quite comfortable with changing in front of me. In fact, she feels so comfortable that randomly, she will walk in my room and steal my shirts. Not the same for me. I don't feel comfortable around anyone, really.
"alright... ill be right here when you're ready!" she excitedly exclaims, now standing at my doorway. As I close my door in her face, she giggles with a light-hearted smile.
"what are you giggling at?!" I snap
"Oh nothing," she replies. "I just can't believe how shy you are towards me!"
"Oh shut up. It isn't just you! And you know this!"
After having changed, I walk out to see her with a big grin on her face. Excitedly, she grabs my hand and tugs me down to the kitchen. In there, I see a small cake. I can only assume she made it from the finely written out name on it. Only her hands could make such fine letters.
"Well... what d'ay think?" she asks eagerly wanting a praising response from me.
"well... it sure is something" I respond unenthusiastically.
"Oh... you don't. . . like it. . ?" I can tell this wasn't the answer she wanted. Almost seems as if she is about to tear up. "Sorry for wasting your food. . ."
"NO! I mean... uh... It's great! It's so amazing that I was left speechless!" I try to sound enthusiastic. Her seeming so unhappy made me feel bad for not reacting how she had expected or wanted me to. I do the first and only thing that comes to my head.
"... thanks for hugging me... did you really like it though?" she asks softly. Jane is a very excited girl. So much so that she sometimes seems to forget that not everyone is as excited as she is.
"Of course! You made an amazing birthday cake. And just for me!" I try to sound just as excited as she would. I seem to fail, but it's fine because this just makes her giggle at my failed attempt to seem ecstatic.
"You're so adorable" she sweetly tells me. I have no words to describe how I feel at this point. Good is the best I can say. After this encounter, of sorts, with Jane, I decide it's time to actually do something on my birthday. As I'm about to leave, I realize she's just staring at me with an odd look. "need something?" I ask her. She doesn't respond. She simply smiles. "oooookay... well I'm going. Like always, feel free to make yourself at home! Not like it would have stopped you from doing so if I didn't say it."
Walking to my favorite spot. Never any worries when I go there. I don't know why but it's relaxing to just sit on the grass in a lonesome field. I enjoy being alone. As I arrive, a strange feeling rushes over me. It's usually lonely when I come here, but today it feels especially lonesome. I gather that it's just me so I sit down on my favorite spot and I look up at the skies. Everything is so peaceful. So calm and serene. My worries about everything fade.
I quickly get up. Looking around, I realize time has passed. I must have been asleep. It's been well over 5 hours since Jane woke me up. I look up at the sky. Instead of seeing the big, white clouds I saw earlier, I see stars. It's a beautiful sight. As I start getting up, I feel something odd.
I start shivering. I don't know why but I just do. Odd considering that it isn't cold out. Something FEELS out of place. Like it doesn't belong. I start walking from my favorite spot only to find that no matter how far I walk, I can't reach the end of this lonesome park. As I realize this, I start running.
I feel something glaring at me. Looking behind me, I see nothing. Nothing but emptiness. Darkness. I don't see anything but I feel something is there. I run faster and faster. I don't realize this, but there's a rock just in the right place. My foot trips over it, sending me forward. As I'm about to hit the ground, my eyes open. I was dreaming. Odd. It felt so real. It felt so strange. I look up. It's as dark as my dream. Getting up, I feel it once more. Something, or rather someone, staring at me. Glaring. I look around. See nothing.
"what... are... you... looking... for..." I hear a grim voice. Very grotesque and low in pitch.
I look up. In the tree, I see it. Gritty. Broken. Dark. An entity with dark intentions. I just know it. It hops down from the tree and creeps closer to me. I step back out of sheer fright. It just keeps creeping towards me. Very slowly. As it gets up to me, it extends what I can only think is an arm. Pointing what appears to be a finger at me, it creeps closer. Closer and closer as I stumble to the ground, I fall back and pull myself backwards. Nothing stops this being. It keeps making its way towards me. Slowly but surely, it seems to be determined.
I close my eyes and cross my arms infront of me. What follows, I do not yet comprehend. The being vanishes. I don't know where to. I don't know why. All I know is that this dark entity is gone. I uncover myself to nothingness. The once-empty field that lay infront of me is once more. Nothing but the tree. I look up. Nothing. Nothing except stars. Something creeps over me and I faint out of sheer fright.
