She snuck away from her prom. They ran way from a fight at home.

The pair stand in the middle of a field, crossed paths as soon as they broke their mask. Both exhausted but she held out her hand, "Alissa"
This situation was strangely comforting to the both of them.
The one holding a bottle shook her hand, "Onyx"
"I've never met anyone called that, your parents must be creative"
They laughed awkwardly, "oh my friends actually chose it for me... I'm gender fluid so I wanted to change my name" they didn't know why they were sharing so much information. But it wasn't like they'd ever see this girl again. "I've never meet anyone that's run away from prom before?" Onyx guessed by the attire.
"Someone kissed me"
They started to laugh, "that's why?"
Alissa's tone remained serouis, "he is my friends boyfriend and I'm also a lesbian..."
Onyx now hated themselves for laughing, "shit..."
"Yeah, shit indeed" she said obviously hurt as she realised the bottle in the teenagers hand, "is that alcohol?"
"No it's a bottle of bleach." They said firmly.
"What?"
Onyx giggled at her stunned eyes, "relax, it's gin"
Alissa sighed then confused as they walked past her. "Hey, where are you going?"
They showed the bottle, "I can't drink straight gin, I need a mixer, coming?"
Alissa didn't have much else to do; her parents would assume she was at a friends after party til morning. She had a whole night to kill. The girl followed, quickly regretting walking into this field with heels. It was then she realised her new aquiatence was carrying a bag on their bag which looked quite full. The zip was also not done up fully.
Alissa ran a little, closing the bag completely, "you left in a hurry?"
"Why all the questions?"
Her mouth stayed shut now, leaving a few seconds of a long silence.
Onyx laughed at the clueless girl, "I'm joking with you, you're cute so I'm going to make exceptions" they said casually. Alissa felt lucky that it was dark so the stranger didn't see how easily she blushed.
"You joke like that a lot?"
Onyx handed her the bottle, "yep" they then disappeared into the shop.
The formally dressed girl smiled as she held the bottle close, she was glad this was the person she was spending tonight with. Their company felt comforting.
Alissa looked into her purse after hearing her phone vibrate. Of course it was her friends asking her whereabouts. A hand grazed hers slightly; Onyx turned it onto silent. The small distance between them was then broken, the runaway stepping back. "I got you some gum to get rid of... well you know..."
"Thank you" she smiled. They were so considerate for a stranger.
Onyx covered their mouth making Alissa worry.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing..." they almost didn't say but fuck it, it's not like they'd see each other after the sun rises. "Please smile more; it's really pretty"
"It's ugly"
Onyx smirked, "you're blushing"
They pulled the flustered girl though the streets with no set goal in mind.
"Where are you taking me?"
"Well where do you want to go?"
She took her time to think. She could go anywhere tonight. "Surprise me"
Onyx stopped walking, "you have to close your eyes then"
Alissa closed her eyes for the runaway, making her heartbeat raise.
"Oh... wow" they seemed surprised, "I wasn't expecting you to trust a stranger like that, do you have a death wish?"
She scoffed, "just take me somewhere cool to get drunk"
The girl longed to forget about the incident, fall further into this dream.
Onyx started to lead her, "you really do want to get murdered by me then?"
"Shut up..."
It was a fun game to tease their new friend, "walking in silence, now that is scarier but your wish is my command"
Alissa hastily replied, "no no please no keep talking"
"About what?"
The girl was intrigued, "well... why are you out this late?"
"Next question."
She sighed, "what do you have to loose by telling me?"
Their voice lowered significantly, "my parents are going through divorce."
An awkward silence then followed. Maybe she shouldn't have asked.
"Must be rough..."
"Yeah"
She felt stupid; this person was now more upset because of her. "Can we make a promise?"
"Depends on what it is"
"Let's not talk about everything that's shitty in our lives tonight"
Onyx laughed before she even finished. "You seem not like the type of girl to swear so hearing it sounds funny"
Alissa narrowed her eyes, "are you drunk?"
"Is this bottle full?"
She opened her eyes to see a half full gin bottle, "jesus..."
Onyx suddenly wasn't impressed, "close your eyes."
She did as she was told, feeling more relaxed than the last time she did so. Soon enough they were allowed to be opened as it was revealed they were at a playground. It was sparse in activity, a swing set, slide and a roundabout. The aura screamed with creepy but it didn't creep out either of them.
"A play park?" Alissa asked, now confused.
Onyx was already making their way to sit on the swings, dumping their bag on the bone dry grass. "Come on runaway prom queen"
She protested but walked towards the teenager, "if we had a prom queen it wouldn't be me it would be my best friend and her boyfriend because they..."
She began to ramble but Onyx was there to stop it, "you made a promise Alissa"
"Right, sorry"
Onyx the knelt on the ground pouring gin into the cups then looking up to their new friend, "I have a confession... I'm completely sober" this statement was not accompanied with a giggle. Rightfully so she doubted the stranger but now questioning if this persona was the real them.
"The bottle is already open"
Onyx looked at her like she was dumb, "I stole it from my parents" Alissa's eyes widened at the idea. She'd never even think of doing something like that.
"Selfish assholes" they whispered under the breath while finishing the drinks. Onyx handed the girl one, seeing the worried look on her face. They kept staring.
"How much..."
"You've never had acohol before right?" They tryed not to giggle.
"Course I have just..."
"Not since that one sip you  had when you were five?"
Alissa seemed to adopt the eyes of a child, "yeah..."
She felt the sudden urge to impress the stranger and started to down the drink without hesitation. Onyx ran to her lowering the drink and then patting her back as she began to cough. As she calmed down Onyx lifted the girls chin to face her, "idiot."
Alissa showed a look of guilt as she was poured a soft drink. "Sorry"
"Lucky I was here to save your ass... drink alcohol slowly, especially spirits like gin" they taught the girl as they sat back down. "You have strict parents?"
"Not really, just protective I guess" Alissa replied, slightly embarrassed of it.
Onyx held the chains of both their swings together, staring into Alissa's eyes. "You seem like a princess"
The girl was confused and looked down at her dress, "because of the dress?"
They shook their head a offered one of their hands to her, "we should dance"
"There's no music..." the girl laughed awkwardly.
Onyx got up, pulling Alissa onto the grass and into hold. The girl continued to laugh as this seemed stupid to do. Onyx admired, her laugh was even prettier than smile. They swayed, leading a dance to the silent night. Alissa was unaware of the staring and was focusing on holding back the laugh. She was failing terribly.
Onyx smiled, "shut up" the girl continued, not even looking them in the eye. "Alissa shut up before I accidentally kiss you"
Then silence fell.
Then their eyes met.
She stuttered as she spoke, "w-what did you just say?"
They let go of Alissa's hands and looked away.  "Sorry that was... please forget that happened"
"Onyx I've only kno..."
They were now sat back on the swing staring at the grass, "I can take you back to your friends"
Alissa didn't agree but instead took a seat on the swing looking into the night. "Would it be so bad? If we kissed?" She waited for a reply but when she was met with silence she was horrified by it. "We are never going to see each other again I don't even live on this area"
They turned to the girl, "but now it's awkward isn't it?"
Alissa wanted to not think for once. And what did she have to loose? Looking at them, she began to slip into daydreams of kissing them. "I want to"
Onyx felt their head spin, "fuck it"
They walked over and picked Alissa up from the swing then planting her feet onto the ground. A cold hand held their face, another hand on their waist. They held the back of her head.
"I'm glad we met onyx"
They raised their eyebrows, "you talk a lot... silence is allowed to make an appearance you know?"
"I know..."
Their eyes closed and they moved closer, finally their lips touching. For a few short seconds they treasured it before their lips faced the cold air again. Onyx's hand dropped onto their collar bone and when they found another's eyes again they burst out in laughter.
Onyx whispered, "what the fuck are we doing?"
"Kissing?"
Their hand fell down to meet their other on their waist. She was pulled even closer, "duh" they kissed again, for longer this time.
A couple of minutes passed until they parted and Alissa covered her face with her hands. Onyx stepped back and admired her. "How are you possibly single?"
She was flattered, "I'm out to 2 people"
"Well now it's 3, congratulations" they clapped for her. "Please don't tell me this is your first kiss with a girl"
She bit her bottom lip, "don't worry it was good"
"No that's to much pressure" they stared at their feet kicking at the dirt.
Alissa shrugged, "I said it was good, I enjoyed it" she walked over to the alcohol, filling her cup properly time and sitting on the grass. "Come sit"
Onyx took a cup, "shouldn't I return you soon?"
She smiled, "soon but not yet"
"Won't they be wondering where you are?" They leant over to fix Alissa's hair.
"Um..." she reached for her phone and laughed as she opened it, "yeah they are"
"Oh" Onyx was nervously picking the grass with her fingers. "Where is the party?"
"Oh but I don't want to go...." She whined.
"Where else would we go?" They said, thinking back to their house. Onyx then violently shivered.
"Where are you going when I'm gone Onyx?"
They coughed, "um a friends I think"
It was getting cold despite being summer so they should probably head back. Onyx saw the goosebumps on the girls arms and took her jacket off and handed it to her. They reflected her pretty smile, "thank you"
"Ok where is this party?" They had got up and picked up the drinks. Onyx hand was offered and Alissa took it and stood with them.
"The big mansion in front of the forest"
Onyx's face filled with disgust, "the girl that lives there is a complete snob"
She giggled, "I know but it's the only after party and all my friends are going, we'll and I'd like to go to my first party"
The runaway grabbed her bag and took Alissa's hand and they started walking. "Tonight's been nice, I'm glad I ran into you"
The girl giggled yet again, "me too, maybe fate will bring us back together..." she then stumbled into Onyx making them let go of her hand to hold her in a more supportive way.
Soon enough they were at the open gates to the house, standing there realising this was their last moments together. Onyx spoke first, "well, tha..."
She was cut off with a kids that turned into a giggle, "bye bye Onyx"
And with that she ran to the house leaving her temporary company on the cold street.

Nothing much changed over summer for Alissa. Apart from new blonde hair and a nose ring she was practically identical to year 11 her. She was excited for sixth form as she sat in her first ever psychology lesson. The teacher hadn't introduced the new faces so she had to listen to the register. Where her name was meant to be another name was said instead. "Olivia"
"Yes sir"
That voice was familiar for some reason, so so familiar. Her head snapped to the owner. And there they were. Hair much shorter and dressed smarter but there they sat.
"Alissa"
Their eyes then found hers, "yes sir"
Timidly she waved to a surprised Onyx. They'd almost forgotten one another until now. The memories were growing back up to the surface. Onyx's face lit up, quickly waving back.
