Albus realized this was it. It was the moment everyone had been waiting for. The moment he would defeat the evil wizard Grindelwald. And Albus didn't want to. He'd rather die than face his ex-lover. But he knew very well that he had to do it, it was his responsibility. And yet, every part of him wished to die because it hurt just too much.
To my lover I'd never lie
He prepared himself for the inevitable. He feared what Gellert might say. His words were his sharpest weapon. And no matter how hard Albus tried, they always cut through his heart leaving nothing but love and pain. He wanted to tell him it's over. That he didn't love him anymore. But that would be a lie. And Albus couldn't lie to Gellert.
He said be true I swear I'll try
A memory sneaked into Albus' mind. Of their summer. How Gellert had softly brushed Albus' hair and had suddenly told him: "You know, the worst thing that can happen is to lose yourself. Please, promise me, to always stay true to yourself and to me. No pretending, no lies."
"I promise", Albus had answered. A tear rolled down his face.
In the end it's him and I
And now they stood here. As enemies. So much had happened, but Albus still didn't comprehend how it could have come to this. He refused to. Fate had brought them together once before to learn love. Now their destiny was to fight and learn eternal pain. The pain to live without the one you love most.
It had always been the two of them. Their story was connected like no other. Secretly, Albus had always known that it would be Gellert and him in the end. And this was the end.
