As they stepped closer to what they had been calling 'The Tree Of Life' they noticed there was a thin layer of mist covering the ground beneath them; one which had never been there before. The longer they stood the more they found themselves struggling to breathe, keeling over in agony whilst gasping for air. The pain was excruciating, feeling their lungs slowly collapse as any remaining oxygen was used and feeling them slowly fill again with the putrid gas surrounding them. The boys had been going there for weeks now, they had never hesitated before, never questioned why it drew them to it or why it had such a pull on them. Today however, something made them question the choice, they had almost stayed at home that day. Most didn't want to go, but were persuaded by the few who did. And maybe if they had stayed at home that day, they wouldn't have met such a tragic and lonely demise.
