Persephone Perrie was truly an Abomination. Her entire existence was a stain on the worldwide community of witches and warlocks.

Though, Percy supposed she was one of the lucky ones of her kind. Most of the Siphons born into the world were killed within hours of their birth. Burned, stabbed, strangled, it didn't matter. A siphon surviving to Percy's age was a rarity.

Her survival wasn't easy though. She'd been the victim of heavy abuse since she was still a baby, defenseless against her mother's brutal hand. The girl wanted reprieve, she wanted safety, and most importantly, she wanted revenge.

Percy had read about an incident that happened in the nineties, if she remembered properly.

There was a boy, a siphon like herself. His name was Malachai, and Percy really didn't understand what parents were thinking when they named their kids. Malachai sounded evil, like they were expecting it of him.

She could hypothesize that, much like herself, Malachai Parker suffered abuse at the hands of his parents for something he couldn't control. She immediately sympathized with the young adult, her own scars and currently aching injuries reminding her of her mother, who was probably at a bar or buying drugs from a local dealer.

She had researched the familicide in depth. The Gemini Coven wasn't as clever as they thought they were. The concept of merging made Percy feel sick to her stomach, the feeling only worsening at the fact that Malachai had disappeared the night after murdering his mother and all but three siblings. She had a sinking suspicion that he was in a prison world, much like the one her mother always threatened to send her to.

Like the one she wished her brother had been sent to. They were half siblings, her and her brother. However, Percy and Matthew were almost inseparable. He often defended her against his mother's vile behavior, taking hits himself if it came down to it.

Unfortunately, instead of her brother being in a prison world, where she could retrieve him the moment she got a chance to, he was gone. Part of him was mixed into the onyx gem that was hanging around her neck. The silver chain was a permanent fixture, unable to be removed unless Percy herself wished so. It was a spell of her own design, created with care and heavy scrutiny. She had made sure everything was perfect, that there were no loopholes or ways around it.

The pendant that encapsulated the onyx jewel was a silver locket, the gem encased in the front of the piece. The hinges and clasp were also spelled, and inside the locket, a picture of her brother was on one side. The other held a grainy photo of a man. He was smiling brilliantly, his blonde curls a similar shade to Percy's own. His bright blue eyes were filled with joy, and a hint of something darker that Percy craved to learn more about.

The grainy and slightly hard to make out photo was all Percy had to go on about her father. She wished her mother didn't despise her, solely so she could ask about her father without facing physical repercussion.

Matthew Pierre didn't know much about her father himself. Being four years older than her, he tried to tell her anything and everything he knew, which wasn't all that helpful.

Before he died, or as Percy believed, was murdered, Matthew had given Percy a task to complete. It was after she came home to his beaten and bloody body, that she realized her brother knew it was coming. He had told her that if anything were to happen to him, he wanted to be cremated. He said he wanted her to take some of his ashes and use them to make herself a talisman to hold magic she siphoned. The rest, he informed her, he wanted spread in the falls.

She had fulfilled his wishes to the best of her abilities, the last piece of his demands to be carried out in a weeks time. She'd saved thousands of dollars, stealing from the Lockwood estate and pawning off anything she could get her hands on. She also stole cash from her mom, a skill she carefully crafted over the years.

She would use that money to plan her escape.

Falling in love wasn't part of her plans, and neither was meeting her biological father. She wasn't prepared for the things that would happen as a result of her simply wanting to honor her brother's wishes.
