It was a miserable day. The sun was hidden behind angry clusters of clouds, and rain was falling down in sheets. It was a perfect day to stay inside and do absolutely nothing. Thankfully, however, despite the weather conditions, that's what I did every day. I was happy, just sitting and thinking in my room, or maybe listening to some records or reading a book.
So there I was, sitting in my utterly boring room, wearing utterly boring clothes, reading utterly boring fanfiction. My life was a series of uneventful days, followed by more uneventful days. Until he moved in.

I smelt him before I saw him.

I always left my window open, just a tad, to get some fresh air. But the only air that came in that day was mixed with cigarette smoke and teenage angst. A car pulled into the driveway next door, I heard the door slam shut and ran to the window as quickly as I could. A very tall boy stood in the driveway, his lips pursed, a cigarette dangling on the edge of them. He was wearing black from his jacket, all the way down to his converse high tops. His hair was the color of fresh lemons, and his eyes, even though I was quite far away, were a deep shade of ocean blue.

He took the cigarette out of his mouth and threw the end onto the ground, stomping it out. He paused for a moment as if he could tell he was being watched. His head slowly turned in my direction, and I ducked under my window a second too late. He had seen me. When i popped my head up, to see if he was still there, he was still staring in my direction, and his lips were curved into a smirk. My heart skipped a beat and I quickly closed my window shade. I heard a small chuckle and the slam of a door.

I peeked through a crack in my shade to confirm he was gone. I left my shade closed, just in case he decided to come back outside, it was probably for the best, it was getting dark out anyway.

I opened my window once again, seeing that he clearly wasn't coming back outside anytime soon, and picked out my outfit for the next day of school. Some black skinny jeans, a blink-182 shirt, and some tennis shoes, then finished the rest of my homework and went to bed, falling asleep almost instantly, which was quite unusual for me.

I awoke the next day, took a shower, changed into my outfit for the day, did my hair and makeup, and anything else i usually did on a school day. I looked out the window for the bus and quickly ran downstairs, grabbing my backpack and yelling a goodbye to my mother, who was most likely still passed out upstairs.

I quickly boarded the bus and made eye contact with him. The boy next door.

His blue eyes sparkled as he scanned me over, and I noticed a lip ring that i hadn't noticed before. I desperately looked for a seat and discovered that the only open one was one directly across from him. Unfortunately, I really would have to learn his name. I plopped into the seat and quickly put on my headphones, trying to avoid having to talk to anyone which was my usual routine. I glanced towards him and saw his lips forming a sentence. I debated ignoring him but decided to take out an earbud.

"What was that?"

His lips formed into a smirk, "One of us is going to have to change."

I furrowed my eyebrows, not sure what he was talking about, then scanned his outfit. We were wearing the exact. Same. Thing.
