POV: Ace
"Si quieres triunfar, sigue lo que siempre se ha seguido" (If you want to succeed, follow what has always been followed)
It's what everyone told me when I came into power.
They wanted me to follow. To obey.
Like hell I was gonna do that.
I don't follow, I don't obey,
I rule.
Nuevo rey nueva ley
New King, new Law.
I walked down the hallway with my hands in my pockets. My employees rushed past me, bowing their heads, not daring to make eye contact. Some respectfully, some fearfully. I liked it either way. The fear.
I turned the knob to my office door. The same old smell of mint and parchment hitting my senses.
Hmm...
The maid really knew how to keep me calm. I felt like I was gonna need that calmness today.
As I was about to sit, Leo burst through the door. To anybody else, he would look just as calm and composed as always, but I could see the tiniest hint of panic and anger in his eyes. He looked at me knowingly.
I knew that look.
"¿Cuál?" (which one?)
"El de Mexico" (The one in Mexico)
Shit that was supposed to be a big one.
"¿Cuánto se toma?" (How much is taken?)
He looked a bit unsure. "una tonelada de material de alta calidad" (A ton of the high quality material)
I raised my eyebrows. Leo would never disturb me or be disturbed about a dinky ton of cocaine. Something much important had been seized or killed for sure.
"What is it hermano (brother)?"
"They got Daniel too."
That explains it.
"That fucker's got the passwords hasen't he?" I asked through gritted teeth.
Leo hummed back in response. He seemed tense too and that was saying something. I should never have made Daniel the messenger. I finally asked the question both of us dreaded.
"Which vault is it?"
Leo turned his back to me. Taking his time. When he finally answered, his voice tight as he said, "El Gran Reino"
My hand on the armrest tightened. The Gran Reino was our largest secret vault in Mexico. It had the capacity to hold around a thousand tons of cocaine with ease. It was one of the best kept secret of my organization and now that Lopez dog had got caught with the password to it by the fucking government.
"Who did it?" I asked Leo.
He turned back to look me in my eyes again, " We don't know yet. They are reporting at the station in half an hour. I think it's the DEA again. They killed 6 of the 11 men on the port. I still don't know why Daniel had such lousy security. They've got him at the Harbour prison. I've sent Luca in, he must be on the way with the files now."
He knew exactly what I wanted. And right now all I wanted was to shoot those DEA motherfuckers. They had already gotten their share for the month and seizing the stuff was fine but my men was not, and they knew this well.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.
Luca came in with a bunch of files in his arms.
He set them on the table, bowed and went out, closing the door behind him.
Leo looked at the bunch of files and then at me, both of us thinking the same thing.
How the fuck were 3 assholes able to pull this off?
