every sunday, nick was allowed to read the children books that were at the library he worked at to the little kids that came.

the small children all surrounded around nick their eyes growing wide every time he flipped the page.

"can we read another one, mr. nick?" a little boy asked politely.

"pretty please?" a little girl begged, her lip poking out slightly.

"you know the rules rachel. one story every sunday, we'll be back next sunday." the girls mother reached out her hand for her daughters and she took it with a huff.

"say bye bye to everybody." the little girl pouted and waved sluggishly before leaving.

the rest of the kids parents slowly filled the small kids corner and took their leave with their children.

it was nicks turn to get up and leave and find his way to the front desk where he worked at.

nick didn't get paid for reading books to children since his boss was too selfish to pay him for it.

but nick didn't mind, he would read the children books under either circumstance.

it was a great advantage to nick anyways since little nick loved children's books.

nick straightened himself out seeing as a new customer entered the library.

"h-hi! what can i help you with?" nick asked the middle-aged woman standing in front of him at the desk. The woman's wiry, fuzzy brown streaked hair looked like it hadn't been brushed in days.

nick rubbed his hand over his messy curls as he looked at the woman, glad for once that he didn't have to worry about hair care.

"my book is missing multiple pages." she said annoyed, pushing Still Alice towards as if it was diseased.

nick frowned and looked closely to the book.
"missing pages?" he questioned as he picked up the book and flipped through the old pages of the novel, passing through a bunch of missing pages.

"yes, pages are missing! are you deaf or something boy?! the woman yelled slightly making nick jump

"s-sorry about that ma'am, im sure it was an accident." nick replied calmly,  placing the book down and typing its name in the worn down computer.

"it looks like there's one more copy in the fiction section." he told her, pointing to the back of the library.

the woman rolled her eyes and stomped her way to the back of the library.

"another one?" rachel asked from the computer behind him. today, rachel was wearing a long colorful skirt with a brown tank top accompanied by a bunch of crystal necklaces.

doesn't her neck hurt? nick wondered to himself.

rachel always came to work wearing some funky kind of long skirt.

she claimed it was the style these days.

"uh huh," nick nodded, placing the worn out book in the pile of other books.

"what do people get out of ripping out pages?" rachel shook her head disappointed.

nick shrugged and got up getting ready for his lunch break.

"i-ill be back in thirty minutes." he said, grabbing his paper lunch bag from beneath the desk before walking to the employee room.

rachel got up and took over nicks seat. "im timing you! you know im not good with customers!" she said in her best whisper voice as nick walked across the room to have lunch.

nick stepped inside the empty, quiet room and closed the door, letting out a deep breath.

nick sat down criss cross on the fluffy black carpet and opened his lunch: pb&g sandwich, stick of cheese, and a small apple juice. nick had a habit of having the same everyday for lunch since he didn't like anything else but sandwiches.

he opened a small desk and looked around making sure nobody was looking before pulling out his favorite children book that he snuck in. he slightly felt bad for doing such naughty activity but he had a feeling the boom wouldn't be mixed.

before nick could sit back down and enjoy his meal his phone dinged.

he quickly scurried to his phone and seen a message from madison.

hey nicky, what's your address? im picking you up at six thirty.

++

nick sighed seeing the time as 'six-twenty' and he still hadn't found any piece of clothing to wear.

before he could step back in his mess of a closet his door bell rang causing him to jump.

he checked the time seeing it was 'six-twenty five' and rushed to the door.

he pushed his stool in front of the door so that he could reach up to the peep hole.

"nick, it's me maddy!" Madison's loud voice was muffled by the door.

nick quickly unlocked the door and ushered madison inside of his small cabin.

"y-you're here early?" nick twiddled with his hands nervously scared that madison would be upset with him for not being ready.

"well i wanted to see your outfit and i also didn't feel like being at home doing nothing." she shrugged her eyes scanning the house.

"your house is so clean and cute, i wish my roommates could keep our dorm this clean." she grumbled.

madisons eyes reverted to nick in his pajamas and shook her head.

"come on, let's see what's in that closet of yours." she held out her hand and nick hesitantly took it showing madison the way to his room
