The Cobras were an up and coming band performing in small-medium venues across L.A. The band consisted of Robby Keene, the son of the 80s rockstar Johnny Lawerence; his stepbrother, Miguel; Miguel's girlfriend, Samantha, and their friend Eli aka 'Hawk'. Although his father still had many connections in the music business, Robby wanted to grow their band authentically so that they would be viewed on their talent not his father's reputation.

One day Robby got a text from one the owner of their frequent haunts. Nestor, the bar owner, requested them to come in to discuss their performance slot. So that evening Robby, Miguel and Hawk swung by the bar, unfortunately Sam was busy with university and couldn't come with them. "Hey Nestor!" Robby greeted with their signature handshake.
"What'd you want to talk to us about?" Miguel asked jumping up on one of the bar stools.
"I hate to tell you guys this but I've had some requests for more of a musical variety, and you know I have to keep the customers happy so..."
"So, we're cancelled?" Robby questioned.
"Not completely. Just a couple of nights a week." Nestor explained nervously "You guys are still my favourite and given our long-standing arrangement I'll make sure you get the most and best slots. Just not tonight."
"What? I was so looking forward to tonight's set." Hawk complained.
"We all were." Robby added "But I get it. It's just business."
"Sorry man."
"Ah, it's not your fault. So who's our new competition?"
"Here's the line up for the week." Nestor said handing him a flyer. "Tonight I've got a new girl performing - she just moved here last week."
"Ha. Another one. We'll see how long she lasts." Robby commented. He had seen so many people move to L.A. with dreams of becoming a singer and he could probably count on one hand the amount of people that stuck it out.

The boys stayed and drank a lot whilst they waited to watch their new competition.

At 9pm, Nestor jumped on the small stage to introduce the night's main act. "Alright everyone. I've got something new for you tonight because let's face it we were all getting a bit sick of looking into Robby's green eyes." Nestor joked and from a table near the back the emerald green-eyed boy barked out a laugh.

"Please welcome to the stage, Tory Nichols!"

Opening song:

As he watched Tory's performance Robby regretted ever being upset over the newcomer taking their slot tonight. She was incredible and Robby couldn't take his eyes off of her. Picking up a drinks menu Miguel spoke behind it to his brother "Please stop staring. It's creepy." Just then, Sam joined them. Miguel had already told her that they had lost their slot and were staying to watch their new competition and she also wanted to come watch. Nestor was walking by collecting empty glasses when Robby stopped him. "Hey. What do you know about her?"
"Not that much. She's new in town, from Florida originally but moved around a lot. Mainly interested in country music but rock and pop are guilty pleasures. Now my turn to ask a question. What's with that look on your face?"
"What look?"
"You have a look."
"No I don't."
"Yes, you do." Miguel interjected.

Tory performed some more country-rock inspired songs with her electric guitar which had Robby transfixed by her talent, being a guitar prodigy and the son of a famous rockstar he had very high standards. And even Hawk was playing the air drums along to the song.

After Tory's set was over Sam went over to talk to her always interested meeting more female musicians and invited her over to their table to meet her other band members. When the girls reached the table Robby immediately gave up his seat to Tory and grabbed another chair from another table for himself whilst Sam retook her own seat next to Miguel.

The five young adults sat talking and drinking for hours they all actually got along really well. During the conversations Tory and Robby kept locking gazes and finding excuses to touch each other as they laughed or compared callouses from the guitar strings.

As the bar got quieter they decided to sing just for themselves for fun. The girls went first - Sam wanted to see more of Tory's rock side so she picked the song.

"Seriously guys?" Nestor asked when he saw what they were doing.
"Shut up and enjoy the show." Tory called.
"Uh! She's meaner than you." Nestor exclaimed pointing back at Robby who leaned back on his chair grinning.

"Okay, my turn." Robby said walking up to the stage and holding his hand out for Sam's microphone who handed it to him and walked back to a laughing Hawk and smirking Miguel. "How about a little competition?" He asked Tory.
"What does the winner get?"
Robby thought for a moment "How about a date?" Hawk's laughing turned into guffawing, Sam tried to repress a squeal and Miguel was just shocked "God he's so bold." Robby had been staying away from the dating scene for just under a year now after having the same issue with everyone he dated - they all just wanted to have a hot rockstar boyfriend with a rich rockstar daddy.
"Deal." Tory agreed smiling at him.

In the end they both won so Tory proposed 2 dates, one where he paid and one where she paid. It took a while for Robby to agree, his father might have been a typical rockstar (at least until he met Carmen) but his mother had instilled a large amount of values and chivalry in Robby, but eventually he relented definitely not wanting to miss out on another date with the beautiful and talented blonde.

Tory left first after exchanging numbers with Robby and he safely saw her into a Lyft. Robby came back into the bar to down the rest of his drink and grab his jacket before he and his friends all left. "So I guess we're going to have a lot of love at first sight songs in the near future." Hawk said.
"Shut up." Robby elbowed him.
