Ugly duckling

The art hanging on the wall behind the male with silver hair is one of the most talked and famous paintings of modern era. Byun Baekhyun can still remember how much social media accounts went crazy comparing this art as the masterpiece of the famous Korean artist called "Sunflower." The theme of the art is also sunflower and the anonymous artist has several times mentioned  the painting is inspired from Vincent Van Gogh and Claude Monet using the artist's signature style.

A chaebol family bought this masterpiece with 20 million won through a tooth and nail auction arranged by the sponsor group of "Sunflower."

Whenever Baekhyun read the news on social media, he sighed thinking that 20 million won would be more than enough for him to settle his life along with his mother. Although his life was not going bad with his mother who is his only family member, it didn't go so smoothly until now.

Suddenly his mother was diagnosed as a patient suffering from stage 3 brain tumor. The treatment of cancer patients is way too expensive for a family like Baekhyun's who doesn't even have a negligible balance left in their savings account only to live eating twice a day for next few months.

Baekhyun never thought to take any help from the family that he and his mother left long long days ago. But sitting in front of his twin brother who is seeming like a standard epitome of rich kid who can even waste 20 million won for a mere useless painting , Baekhyun gains courage to ask for help.

"How are you doing, Baekboem?" Baekhyun tries to smile looking at the same sculpture of face that he shares with his only twin brother.

"To ask this you have come here?" Baekboem crosses his legs while leaning on the seat rest of the luxurious sofa.

"Mom is ill ....," Baekhyun's voice trembles and he waits to see any expression in Baekboem's eyes. But as Baekboem's expression doesn't even change a bit,he continues," She is suffering from a brain tumor. Doctor said it's complicated. She will be needed to undergo 6-10 cycles of chemotherapy depending on how much she can endure. Then the tumor removal surgery can take place."

"Oh!... That's it? Feeling bad for you," Baekboem says in an indifferent voice. 

" The treatment cost is way too expensive for me," Baekhyun clenches the corner of his shirt in embarrassment while thinking of asking for financial help. Even though it's his twin brother, there's a huge distance between them. Because of a huge scandal of infidelity their parents got separated at their young age. With the separation of their parents, the twins also got separated. Byun Baekboem stayed with his father in the rich family,while Byun Baekhyun stayed with his mother who was from a lower middle class family.

"Idk...," Baekboem replies shortly while looking at his nails which are needed to be pedicured.

"I need financial help from you."

"Tell me the percentage you can contribute to your mother's treatment cost," Baekboem gives emphasis on the 'your mother' words.

"One chemotherapy. The drugs needed in between and hospital fees are...."

"Why don't you say you want me to bear the whole expenses? Is this one irony even to seek financial help from someone whom she left at a young age," Baekboem says in a mocking voice.

"She is your mother too. And the circumstances made us separated. But she still loves you from the core of her heart."

"I would better cry with money, than being poor with love. Look how she has even destroyed your life."

"Baekboem,She has brought you to this world. I thought you would help her even giving some charity to her. But I think I was wrong," Baekhyun's voice trembles understanding Baekboem doesn't have mentality to even pay a penny for his mother's treatment cost.

"Haha ... She has brought you too. If you paid half, I would pay half too. If you pay for one chemo, I will pay for one too. Even though she doesn't have any contribution in my life, I will pay the same amount you will contribute. I am happy that she has not taken me in nasty environment. I am the lucky twin between us," Baekboem says while smiling and insulting Baekhyun.

"At least I am not the unlucky one to live without my mother. Even if my life give me choose my way, I will prefer to live with mother again and again," Baekhyun stands up from the sofa to leave.

" Sit down, Baekhyun. I am well known for charity in this city. I will give you money for your mom's treatment. But there's one condition to fulfill...," The lips of Baekboem curves an evil smile.

Byun Baekhyun feels uncomfortable watching him in the mirror with silver hair. He has even worn branded clothes from Baekboem's closet. The sparkling ear cuff , light shimmery eye makeup has completely turned him into a different person. He is going on a blind date holding the identity of Byun Baekboem.

The five star restaurant on a skyscraper glass building makes Baekhyun so nervous enough that he can feel his palms getting sweaty and hands trembling on his lap.

The man sitting in front of him seems like a character from a Korean drama who is looking at the menu of a restaurant and ordering randomly,as Baekhyun has refused to order by himself.

Baekhyun tries to memorize the information that Baekboem provided him about this man. He is Park Chanyeol,one of the most expected bachelors of South Korea. He has recently taken over the lead of Park group of industries and is said to be one of the most influencing youth of this country.

Park Chanyeol is said to be very calculative in practical life, he is worst near his employees and best to the female of all ages who wants to date him and marry him. He belongs to a very conservative family where Korean norms are maintained strictly. Mr Byun wants Baekboem to get engaged with Park Chanyeol ,so that he can be a partner with Park group.

" You have grown so beautifully," Chanyeol compliments looking at Baekhyun who is observing the city under the skyscraper building with worried eyes.

Baekboem said he met Chanyeol when he was just a teenage boy. The blind date idea was brought from Chanyeol's grandmother who wanted a delicate beauty to carry Chanyeol's heir. But Baekboem was way too little back then, Chanyeol denied saying Baekboem would be grown up enough to understand the meaning of marriage and commitment.

"Thank you," Baekhyun blushes. He thinks to himself that Baekboem has a trash like personality and he knows better that with his personality and attitude he can never make Park Chanyeol to get engaged in this marriage.

" It's a great relief that you are eating well. Back then you were such a picky eater," Park Chanyeol watches Baekhyun to eat a mouthful of sushi.

"Ummm?.... Sorry...," Baekhyun covers his mouth in embarrassment. Has he broken any dining etiquette? Understanding rich people is honestly not his job.

"You have changed a lot..."

" How can you say that with not even an hour we have met after a long time?" Baekhyun tries to be easy at talking looking at Chanyeol's eyes who is so busy admiring Baekhyun while not touching any mouth watering foods served in front of him.

" You were such an unsocial kid back then, Baekboem...," Chanyeol replies while pouring some sauce over his sushi.

Although Byun Baekboem's beauty is beyond standard, he seemed like a problematic kid back then. Puberty hit him bad back then may be. He was such a picky eater. He even refused to talk properly with Chanyeol back then. Chanyeol can still remember how Baekboem behaved strangely in front of him about 5 years ago. But Chanyeol wanted to give time to Baekboem.

Seeming like Byun Baekboem has turned into a beautiful swan from ugly duckling for Park Chanyeol.
