Chapter 0; Where it begins

Hawkins Lab

I look at Papa. "Papa please!!" I say.

Papa is taking me away from the Rainbow Room.

I tried to become friends with 016, she seemed very kind. But my powers got the best of me, we played with building blocks, and she accidentally knocked my building over. I was very mad. I shot her across the room.

I am only 12, and ever since I turned 12, my powers and flashbacks have been coming back to me.

When I was 9, Papa took me for usual lessons, but something failed. I tried so hard on that lesson that everything disappeared, my powers disappeared. I know longer had control, so over the course of 3 years, Papa has done everything to bring back my powers.

"Papa! PLEASE, I didn't mean too! I swear!!"

Papa looks at me with his eyebrows furrowed, and lips clasped hard together. I can see anger in his eyes, I can feel his hand gripping my skin— it hurts.

He takes me into a room, and sits me down on a chair, cuffing me to the chair.

He places something on my head.

"Four, do you have any idea what you just did?" Papa asks.

I look at him, do I? Not even I know the answer.

He takes a deep breath, placing both hands on the table in front of us.

"Four, you and I both know that you're stronger than all of your sisters and brothers combined. We also both know that it's not okay to attack our siblings, why did you attack 016?" He asks.

"I'm sorry Papa.." I say, I cant say anymore.

He stands up, walking over to me and uncuffing me.

"Learn to control your powers, Four, or I will." He says.

Hawkins Lab, 2 days later

I stare at the body on the floor. I just killed 016.

I don't know what just happened, it happened so fast.

I stared at the blood on the floor, looking at the mirror. Suddenly, a guard knocked on the rainbow room door.

"Open up!" He yelled.

Guards continuously knocked on the door, until the doors broke down.

They ran in, running towards me, but suddenly, they all froze.

I looked at them confused, what just happened?

They start struggling, cursing swears, and yelling at me, they must think I did this.

I looked behind them and saw him—, his nose was bleeding, he was only 2 years older than me.. I never talked to him but we always glanced at eachother. It was 001, and he was helping me.

I got lost in his eyes, they were an icey blue, I've never seen him use his powers like this before..

"Run! Four! Run!" He yelled, still freezing the guards.

I looked at him, smiling lightly, and then running to the guards. I pickpocketed their keycard and ran out the door. Just before I reached the hallway, I glanced back at One. He was still holding the guards. "One!" I yelled. He turned his head, looking at me.

"Come with me!" I say.

He shakes his head, "Go now Four! Now!" he says.

I sigh, "Thank you." I say, before running away.

I run through the corridors of the lab, everything here makes more sense than I thought. As I was running, I figured something out. All of these rooms with numbers, they're rooms for us— to practice our powers.

I continue running, but then I spot a guard behind me, he doesn't see me, but he definitely is looking for me.

I look around in panic— what do I do? I have to run, or hide somehow..

Then I see it— 1. A door had the number 1 signed on it. I walked over to it, opening it.

I quickly went inside, shutting it behind me. The room had a white bed, a table and a few chairs. It also had a jade marble on the table, a perfectly rounded marble. I looked at the wall, a picture of a man, a young girl, and a boy who looked similar to 001. It also had a blonde woman with short wavy hair. If I am correct, that is his family. I've never had a family, so I always wondered what it's like.

After a couple minutes, I walk to the door and open it, peaking outside. The guard was gone, now I have to run.

I look at the table with the marble on it. 001 did something nice for me, I have to remember him.

I walk over to the table, grabbing the marble. I stuffed it in my pocket, the ran out the door.

Hawkins Forest, That Night

"Dustin, we're not going to find Mews this late. Let's go home."

I'm hiding behind a tree, in fact I have been all day. After I escaped the lab, I didn't know where to go. I've never been outside before, it's.. it's very pretty.

When I heard the voice, my body jumped slightly, snapping s twig.

"Did you hear that, Mike? I told you! Mews is out here!" A voice yelled.

I looked behind the tree, seeing two boys walking towards the tree.

My body started shaking, I could feel my heart beating. I took the marble out of my pocket, squeezing it with my hand for comfort.

Suddenly, a boy jumps in front of me, "Got you Mew-"

He stops in his tracks, staring at me as if he's seen a ghost. The other boy comes over, confused.

Then, they both look at me.

A boy with black hair looks at the boy with brown hair, they both stare at each other for some time, before continuing to stare at me.

Finally, one of them speaks, "Are you.. okay?" He asks.

I've never really spoken before, I usually do things with actions. Sometimes I'll say a couple sentences, if necessary.

"Lost." I say.

They look at each other, then at me. "Do you know where your house is?" one of them asks.

I sigh, if I did I'd be there by now. "No." I say.

Their faces are now puzzled, "What's your name?" one asks.

"Name?" I ask, questioningly. I know what a name is, obviously, but I don't have one.

They look even more puzzled.

The boy with black hair speaks, "Yeah.. I'm Mike! This is Dustin."

I look at them questioningly, then I look at the marble in my hand.

"I am Jade." I say.

"Cool name!" Dustin smiles.

"Do you have a family?" Mike asks.

I shake my head.

"Alright.. um, we will be right back." Dustin and Mike both go farther away from me, whispering indistinctly.

They come back a little while later. "Alright, Jade, you can stay in my basement for awhile. Then, I'll tell my mom...you're staying with us!" He says.

"Will I get.. a home?" I ask.

"Yes!" Mike says.

"Okay.." I look in the direction of the lab, before getting up and following them home.

oh yah btw um i forgot to say that the reason the writing is so weird is because it is deep in jades perspective but it'll change and become more.. human in the next couple chapters
