I just finished reading the book that Agatha lend to me last week. It's about a boy who had cancer and a girl who has cancer. I almost cried the entire time reading it because I can absolutely relate with the story. Not about the intimate part but, the cancer part. My mother died because of breast cancer and since then, I hated that disease.
No, scratch that. I loathed it.
It made my mother weaker and weaker everyday.
It made her suffer.
It made her leave me.She was the only person who I can lean on and the only person who I loved my whole life. But we can't have everything we want. Even when we need it.
I closed the book and touched the cover with my finger tips. The blue book was designed with a black cloud and with letters written in chalk-like font. It was between thick and thin.
I wonder what the author felt when he was writing this. The book contained with so much emotion and experiences. Sometimes, I've been thinking. How did they come up with such stories like this? Is it based from what they have been through?
Maybe. Maybe not.
"Era, may I talk to you?"
My thoughts were cut by a smooth sweet voice. I looked behind me and saw mother Anna smiling at me. Yes, we call them mother. It's a specific rule here in the orphanage.
Mother Anna was the one who takes care of me since I was brought here. She's very understanding and is always there for me every time I need someone. I'm pretty lucky to have her because some of the mothers here are strict.
"What is it mother?" I asked.
She took a sit beside me. She's holding some files in her thin hands and looked thoughtfully before answering, "I don't know if this is a good or bad news for you."
I cocked my head at the side. What if it's a good? Will I be happy?
What if it's bad?
"If you were in my place mother, what would it be?" I asked nervously as I look at my hands.
"Good."
Her answer made me calm a bit. What could it be though. Never in my whole six years here had I ever heard a good news for me. So this is all new to me.
"What is it?" I asked again.
She smiled again and picked a file from her hands then put it above the table that was in front of me. I scanned the thin white paper.
"INTERESTED GUARDIANS" was written at the upper corner of the paper.
Oliver Evans and Meredith Evans
Married
With one child; sonI didn't read the rest and turned my curious eyes to mother Anna. "What does this mean mother?"
"That two people are interested in adopting you! Finally, you can have a family Era." She grinned happily to me.
"Adopting me? They don't even know me or saw me mother." I shook my head.
I didn't really took the news as good. This house had been my home for six years. I don't know what will happen if I move. I'm not good at socializing with people.
I'd rather talk to animals!
"They want a daughter and I suggested you." She smiled.
Oh no. What did she tell them? That I'm a good child?
