Chapter 2
Chapter 2

A shower and a fresh pair of skinny jeans later, I walk downstairs only to pause mid-step when I hear a high pitched wailing sound.

Wait a sec. Is mom singing? I cover my ears as I continue downstairs. As I enter the kitchen, I see Mom dancing to the beat of some invisible tune inside her head. Her dark blond hair was swaying back and forth along with her hips.

Oh. My. God.

"Mom?", I said with a horror-struck voice.

"Oh, Caroline! Good Morning!", she cooed.

"Morning."

"Do you want some coffee?", she said, pouring some into a mug. "Or would you have tea. Tea is good. I heard that it's really good for your health and that it could help you look into the future.", she rambled on.

"Mom", I said taking the coffee cup from her hands. "Are you high?"

Her green eyes, identical to mine, widen. "No! At least I don't think-"

My mouth opened in shock. "Mom!"

She slaps my arm. "Kidding! You silly goose! Of course I'm not high. Look at the time! I have to get going. I have a late shift at the hospital tonight, so work something out with Julie, ok?"

She kisses my cheeck and says ,"I love you. Bye!"

I rub my arm where she hit me. What the hell just happened.

Something is definetly wrong with Mom.

★★★★★★★★★★★★

"There's nothing wrong with your mom, Caroline."

"Then how do you explain what happened this morning."

I was at my locker with my bestfriend Julie telling her about Mom's episode this morning.

She was pulling her dyed red hair into a pony tail. Her face was deep in thought.

"I don't know. Maybe its nothing. But come on we're going to be late to first period.", she said pulling into the crawling mass of highschool students.

"It can't be nothing", I said, walking into Mr. Matthew's Biology II room and taking my seat next to Julie in the back of the class. "She was acting like a totally diffrent person. That was not my mom."

"Maybe she's just really happy for some reason. Maybe she's seeing someone.

My eyes widen. "Maybe."

"So how was the date last night with Dakota?", she said wiggling her eye brows.

I roll my eyes. "It wasn't date and you know that. We're just really close friends." I toss a look to his chair in the front. He isn't here yet. Where the hell is he.

"I know. But one of these days, Dakota is going to wake up and realize how perfect you two are together."

I laugh. "Julez, you are the only person that thinks that."

"I am not the only one who thinks that. The whole school is just waiting for him to ask you out."

"What?!?"

The sound of late bells cuts off Julie before she could reply.

"Alright, guys and gals. Time to start class. Take out your textbooks and turn to page 435. Complete the questions at the bottom. Use complete sentences and justify your answers. If you are caught talking, automatic dentention.",says Mr. Matthews.

I shoot Julie a look saying this conversation isn't over yet.

I get my textbook open amd start working. I only get to question # 25 before I let my mind wonder.
