"Here!" Thoma exclaimed with his usual bright smile as he shoved a large necklace into my hands. "This was my old necklace before I got this one. I want you to have it." He finishes, practically radiating happiness.

I pick up the necklace by the chain and notice how large the pendant is compared to the accessories I'm used to wearing. "Thank you Thoma, however I don't think I can wear this..."

"Oh don't worry about that. I just wanted to give it to you." The blonde replied. "It makes me feel like a piece of me will always be with you wherever you are!"

"I see. Thank you Thoma." I reply, putting away the necklace in my kimono.

Unbeknownst to Thoma, who was currently giddy with excitement and not paying too much attention to his surroundings, that small gesture gave me butterflies. He wants to be with me all the time? That idea in and of itself made me mimic his mood as well.

Smiling, I reach up and ruffle his hair. "This means a lot to me Thoma, thank you."

Thoma grins ear to ear and nods. "Of course! I'm glad you like it!"

The two of us spent the rest of our downtime together until Ayato and his sister Ayaka came out from meeting with a few other representatives from the other commissions. Within a few minutes everyone else dispersed and Ayato summoned us to their side.

"Thoma, Miari. Accompany Ayaka back to the estate. From there, you will stay and watch over her while I to go to Tenshukaku." Ayato explains as he kindly smiles to his sister.

My eyes widen a little. "My lord, Tenshukaku is the home of the Raiden Shogun. Is everything alright?"

Ayato's eyes soften as his smile fades a little. "Yes. Everything is alright, there is just an urgent matter I must attend to with the Shogun."

Thoma nods. "We understand."

The head of the Kamisato clan nods back to his servant and pats his sister's head before leaving towards the home of the Electro Archon.

Ayaka who was standing not too far away from us, was standing perfectly still and looked devoid of emotion like a doll. Immediately seeing her state, Thoma runs over and waves to her.

"Hellooo? Anyone home miss Kamisato?" Thoma questions dramatically.

Ayaka snaps out of her daze and nods. "Y-Yes I'm fine. Thank you, Thoma."

"I take it the meeting was draining?" I suggest as I stand beside Thoma. The only times that the young lady of the clan put on her doll-like facade was when she was stressed.

Ayaka looks down to the floor. "Yes it was..."

Smiling at Ayaka, I comment. "Well don't worry too much about it lady Ayaka, I'm sure you did a great job."

At this, Ayaka lifted her head smiled back at us. "Thank you for your sentiment you two."

"Anytime." I reply at the same time as Thoma.

The three of us head back to the Kamisato clan's estate and proceed with our daily life. Thoma would train with Ayaka, and I would go over any important paperwork until it was time for me to cook dinner for us. The reason I end up cooking for us three because the other servants head home before Ayaka is done with her training, not because she's is forced to put in large hours, but because she insists to.

"Thank you for the food." We all say together as we start to dine.

Taking my chopsticks from the table, I just grabbed a lump of rice before I heard the front door slide open. Nodding to Thoma to stay here, I excuse myself and check who came in.

Reaching the front door, I watch as Ayato takes off his shoes with an exhausted sigh. "Oh Miari, I assumed you were preparing dinner about now."

Bowing slightly, I stand up and shake my head. "I just finished my lord. Feel free to have some."

Ayato smiles slightly and proceeds towards the living room. "Thank you, I might just do that."

Nodding, I follow him back into the living room and we all eat and have a great rest of the day.

In the days that followed, Ayato would normally leave the estate for business matters and Thoma and I would watch over the young lady of the clan. However, as time went on we could tell how her brother's constant state of leave was affecting Ayaka.

Thoma and I would end up doing everything together in order to prepare everything that miss Ayaka would either  want or need while other servants attended to her during the day. We would go buy produce, deal with drama concerning the other commissions, and overall tried to just make her load a little lighter.

Because of this the two of us bonded quickly and even though it seemed impossible, we became even more inseparable. The two retainers of the Kamisato clan somehow were around each other even more, however they never neglected their duties to the two nobles of the clan.

Eventually, Thoma asked Ayato for his permission to officially court me. Ayato immediately agreed and soon after I was being asked to be Thoma's lover with a arm around my shoulders and a smile that always lit up a room.

"So, what do you say?" Thoma asked with a smile and a wink.

Looking over his form I noticed that behind his bubbly exterior, Thoma was incredibly nervous. His cheeks were tinted a shade of crimson, his hair was tussled from his hands running through it, and he was burning up. Feeling a little mischievous, I decide to see his reaction and tease him a little.

"Hmmmm... and what if I said no?" I ask, feigning a serious face.

Thoma's face started to turn into panic as he removed his arm from my shoulders to wave his hands around. "W-Well I would understand of course! I would never want to pressure you into something you don't want!"

I let out a chuckle as my facade fades. "Thoma."

"...Yes?" Thoma responds, calming down a little.

Smiling, I pull out his old necklace from my kimono and use my other arm to pull him towards me, leaving only a few inches in between us. "Thoma, there is no one else that I would say yes to than you."

Thoma's eyes widen as I give him no time to think before immediately locking our lips together. Still clutching onto his necklace, I keep my other hand in his hair as he wraps his arms around my lower back.

After several seconds we break apart but Thoma keeps his arms around me. "You know, that was really mean of you to tease me like that."

"I know, but I wanted to see your reaction." I reply, reaching up to ruffle his hair once more.

Thoma sighs and goes in for a kiss just to stop a hair away from me before backing away. "And that's for teasing me."

"Ughhhh you're no fair!" I exclaim.

"Yes I know, but you did start it." He replies followed by leaving a kiss on my cheek.

Sighing, I reach into my kimono and take out Thoma's old necklace while listening to the waves hitting the shore. "It doesn't feel too long ago that we were in each other's arms..."

Letting myself get lost in the past, I didn't notice Teppei calling to me as he ran towards me.

"General Miari! General Miari!" He shouted.

Snapping out of my thoughts I turn around and let my voice carry the weight of my position. "What is it?"

"You're needed on the front lines immediately! General Gorou has been ordered to stay here so we can only rely on you to quell this battle." Teppei explains, clearly stressed.

Nodding, I reach out to place a hand on his shoulder. "I'm on it. I'll be taking a small group of soldiers with me." I respond, walking past the soldier.

"T-Thank you!" I heard Teppei mumble out before running off to report back to Kokomi.

Placing my hand over the pocket holding Thoma's old necklace I grimace. "....archons, please let me survive a little longer. Let me see him one last time before I ascend to your world."
