Cheng, Qiao, and Lu had been living together for a while now and things were great. Lu was responsible, he and Cheng kept the place open, and Qiao kept it running. Qiao was bossy, of course, but Lu and Cheng would be nowhere without her or her rules; they didn't like the rules, but they knew they needed them.
"Boys, to the table, it's dinner time!" Qiao called. Cheng raced down the stairs to find noodles waiting for him at the table, and Lu came down the stairs at a much slower pace a moment after Cheng got downstairs.
"I have seriously been craving noodles." Cheng said, sitting down.
"After all that." Lu muttered to himself.
"After all what. You know, you two might need new friends, I don't know. You really need to get out more. You're always alone in that bedroom of yours..." Qiao said with food in her mouth.
"We get out plenty." Lu said.
"Really, we go in." Cheng said. Lu and Qiao look at him. Then Qiao began looking back and forth between the both of them.
"Hmm?" Qiao asked.
"I swear he means video games." Lu said putting his head down into his hand.
"What are you guys looking at me like that for." Cheng laughed. Then he gasped. "My bad." He laughed again. It wasn't a big deal, they understood him. But really, he didn't mean video games; he meant the photographs he travelled into with Lu's guidance, but Qiao couldn't know about that.
There was a knock at the door, a desperate knock at the door. The desperate knocks often meant something dreadful had happened, those cases were never fun.
"We can't even have dinner in peace." Lu said.
Qiao went to the door and there was an old woman standing out in the rain. Qiao let her in immediately. The look on her face made Cheng's blood run cold, she looked so sad.
"Does a witch live here? A witch with time abilities?" She said, tears in her eyes.
"Perhaps." Qiao said, such sass and pizzazz in her tone, -kind of misplaced because of the ladies sorrow, but what can you do?- "What would you need her help for?" She asked the woman
The woman, bawling now, fell to her knees, which must have hurt like hell due to her age but, oh well. "My dog ran away last week and hasn't returned. He runs away all the time but has never been gone for so long. I need him. He is all I have left in this world." She cried.
"Do you have photos of him? Recent ones?" Qiao asked. The woman nodded and reached for her small purse. The unzipped it and poured the contents out onto the floor; everything that fell was a photo of her dog.
"I printed these before I came. These were all taken the day he ran away." She said.
"WE WILL HELP YOU I PROMISE! QIAO LING WILL MAKE YOU A PLACE TO SLEEP ON THE COUCH TO WAIT OUT THE STORM. TOMORROW WE WILL FIND YOUR DOG!" Cheng shouted. He grabbed Lu, walked over to the pile of photos, and stormed up the stairs.
Qiao took the old lady by the arm and lead her to the couch. She sat the woman down, "I'm gonna make some tea, would you like some?" Qiao asked.
"Why, yes please." The woman responded, "My name is Tang Chen, you are Qiao Ling?" The woman asked.
"Yes, I am. It is nice to meet you Tang Chen." She responded and banged through the cabinets. She made the woman tea, handed it to her, and went upstairs to find the blankets to make up a bed for the woman.
Upstairs in their bedroom Lu and Cheng were planning on finding the dog.
"It honestly doesn't seem to matter which photograph we choose." Lu groaned.
