Jimmy opened the tutor center door.

"Jimmy." Haley called.

He stopped in the doorway.

"You know, they're gonna remember me as a monster. I wonder how they'll remember all of you."

Jimmy walked out.

I took her in my arms.

Haley buried her head in my chest.

I walked down the hallway.

I walked to the doors.

I opened the one that Jimmy didn't shoot.

I walked through the door.

"Hey. Where do you think you're going?" It was Jimmy.

He had his gun aimed at me.

"She's bleeding."

"The school's on lockdown!" Jimmy pointed out.

"I know, Jim. But if I don't get her out of here, she's gonna die."

He gasped.

"I didn't mean to hurt her."

Keith walked in the side door.

"We know that, Jimmy." He told Jimmy.

"What the hell is this? The school's on lockdown!" Jimmy pointed out to Keith.

"Please, Jimmy, just... Please just let them go and you and I can talk about this. She's hurt, Jimmy."

"I didn't mean it."

He gasped.

"I know."

He looked back at me with Peyton in my arms.

Jimmy gasped as he kept the gun aimed at Keith.

"Go on, Luke."

He blocked me from him all the way to the door.

"Keith..."

"Luke... I love you. Now go."

I walked out the side door.

Keith

"Why don't you just hand me that gun... Jimmy and we can just follow them out of here?" I suggested, holding my hand out to Jimmy.

"I can't."

"Well, I'm not gonna leave you here, son."

I walked closer to him.

"I'm not gonna do that and I'll tell you why..."

Jimmy stared at me.

"Because I've been there. I've bought the gun and I planned on using it, okay? I've been there and I want to tell you something..."

I paused a few feet away from him.

"It gets better."

"Not this. It can't."

"It does, Jimmy. That- That pain in your stomach, that pain in your heart it goes away."

I walked closer to Jimmy.

"That voice in your head that's- That's saying there's no way out, it's wrong, Jimmy. Would you please... Please just believe me? It gets better."

"It won't! Not after this! I can't take this back! I- I can't erase this! She's gonna die."
