A/N: I'm sooo exited for the next chapters they're gonna be so good

"You know, I didn't answer your question earlier," Evianna said. "The answer is yes, I do think Beatrix killed him."

"I do too, now," I said. "But what the hell are we supposed to do about it? Tell them it was her and to let us go?"

Evianna shook her head. "We need to escape. Like, tonight."

"Okay, how?" I asked. "The only person that can help us is that guard, but we don't know where he is right now and it's not like we can request that he comes here."

"He also doesn't have powers," she said. "Which is unfortunate, because he can't do a lot to help us break out."

I sat down, looking around our cell and the small room for anything to use. There were two beds, and a window with bars on it. Outside the cell, was a small empty room with a locked door. It was pretty hopeless.

"I guess Operation: Save Beatrix is over. But we still have this," Evianna said, holding up the thin metal tube which had contained the note. "Do you think it can be used for anything?"

I took it, and turned it over in my hands. "I don't think so," I said, tossing it to the floor.

She looked closer at the bars on the window. "These are thinner than the bars on the cell. And I think we could fit out of this if we removed a bar. But the biggest problem is how high up we are. We could get considerably injured if we fell."

"We can use these," I said, ripping the sheets off the beds and beginning to tie them together. "This can be a rope."

"That's so cliche. I'll go out first," she said.

"Of course you will," I replied, rolling my eyes.

As she took over tying the sheets together, I started to tug on the bars. They were sturdy, but I held on firmly, and soon I started to feel the energy beneath my palms. I channeled all my emotions, the betrayal and confusion from Beatrix, the frustration over being locked up, and the bars began to vibrate.

Then, I ripped them out, almost falling backwards at the strength. There was now an open window.

"How're the sheets going?" I asked.

"I'm done," she replied, and began to tie the end around the leg of the bed, which was attached to the floor.

It was a decently sized window, big enough to crawl through. She climbed onto the sill, and looked down nervously. "This is pretty high up," she murmured, as I handed her the sheets.

"These will hold, they're made of nylon," I said, shuddering as I touched them, the material making me uncomfortable.

Evianna gripped them tightly, and started to shuffle farther across the sill. "See you on the other side," she said, and then she was gone.

And then so was the sheet, because apparently we had not tied it well enough.

My heart stopped for a moment as I scrambled over to the window, looking down. But to my relief, she was standing, looking up at me, her chest heaving and eyes wide.

"Are you okay?" I called down.

"Yeah, I was close enough to the ground before it broke!" she called up. "But that was so fucking scary. I swear that took like, ten years off of my life. How are you gonna get down now?"

Before I could answer, the door to the room burst open, and I whipped around and saw two guards standing there. Perhaps we should have been quieter. Or maybe there were cameras we hadn't seen. Or, an alarm could have gone off when I ripped out the bars. It didn't really matter, our rushed and poorly thought out plan had been thwarted in more ways than one.

"Stop right there!" one of them yelled, as the hurried over to the cell, keys jingling as they prepared to unlock the door.

Now, I had two options. Fight off the guards and escape through the door, which meant even more guards, or jump and hope for the best. I had about a second to choose.

The wind whipped through my hair and my heart leapt as I was momentarily weightless, the world a blur around me.

I fell fast and hard, but landed on the gravel with a soft thud, my nerves still feeling electric.

"Oh my god," Evianna gasped. "I can't believe you just did that. And you're okay?"

"Perks of being... whatever I am," I said shakily. "And it's only two floors. Come on, we gotta go."

We hadn't been in an actual prison, just a station, so there was no metal fence we needed to climb, just a busy road to cross.

Then, the chaos began, when I saw a familiar face approaching me, and heard the shots behind me.

"What are you doing here?!" I demanded. "It's not safe!"

"I changed my mind," Sophia said. "I decided I was ready. I didn't know you guys were in the middle of a murder investigation!"

"Murder?!" Evianna cried, as I turned to look behind us.

There were officers everywhere, coming at us from almost all angles. But not all of them.

"Run," I told the two of them. "Find some of the others, any of them. They won't spend as much energy looking for you two, because they know you don't have powers," I said, referring to Evianna. "And they don't think you have powers," to Sophia.

Sophia turned to look at the officers, and in her panic, I saw the ripple across her face and knew it was too late for her.

"Her face!" one of them yelled, and she moved to cover it. Evianna spun on her heel and I heard the horns honking as she ran onto the road. Now it was just the two of us.

"What's gonna happen to us?" Sophia asked me, her face returned to normal, as we were surrounded. "Now that they know..."

"I have no idea," I said quietly. We were out of options.
