After the whole I-sak incident no one dared say anything. Especially anything about I-sak that could make On-jo feel worse.
As Ji-min and Hyo-ryung comforted On-jo. I was leaning against a desk, looking at the ground trying to figure out what to do next. "We should get moving. We won't last long here." I said finally looking up. "Where would we go?" Woo-jin asked. "If we used the firehose from earlier we might be able to use it to get down a few floors." I said as I stood up straight. "Yeong-ja about I-sak..." Cheong-san started but was interrupted by me. "Don't worry about it. You did what you had to do. It's in the past now." I said not sparing him a single look.
I wasn't mad at Cheong-san for what he did. He had to do what he had to do for the safety of the group. But I still couldn't help but wonder how he could kill his friend so easily. And if you would do the same to Gyeong-su, On-jo, or even...me.
"Gyeong-su, do you think you could open the door just a few inches. Enough for the hose to get through?" I asked, making him look at me completely baffled. "Are you crazy?! Isn't it better to wait for the rescuers to come save us?" He asked. "We might be dead by the time they get here." I said making him groan in annoyance. "If I turn into a zombie I'm going after you first." He said as he opened the door. As I went to stick my hand through the crack in the door I was stopped. "Let me do it. My arms are much longer than yours" Cheong-san said as he moved me out of the way and got down on his knees.
As he stuck his hand out to grab the firehose, it looked like he was having trouble. A few seconds later the door closed. "Did you get it?" Gyeong-su asked, but Cheong-san ignored him and went into the supply room. And when he came out he had an arm in his hand. What is he doing? I thought as he walked past me and opened the door. After a few seconds, Cheong-san had gotten the firehose.
"Here." He said handing the hose to me. "Thank you." I said as I grabbed the end of the rope. "Okay, come and help me make some knots." I said as a few people came to help. "How do you want it?" Ji-min asked. "Make it big enough so someone's hand or foot can fit." I said as I started tying knots. "Zigzag. Make it a zigzag. Big enough increments" Joon-yeong yelled as everyone got into position after a few minutes we had enough knots to make it down a few floors.
"Let's go." Cheong-san said as he walked to the window and threw the rope down. "Are we even going to make it down there?" Gyeong-su asked, worried he might die on the way down. "I'll go down and check the empty rooms. I'll call when it's clear, okay?" Cheong-san said volunteering to go down first.
As Cheong-san stepped up to the edge of the window he suddenly decided not to go first. "Gyeong-su, you go down first." He said looking Gyeong-su straight in the eye. "Why? Did you see something?" Gyeong-su asked even more worried than before. "No. But you go down first." Cheong-san answered vaguely.
Gyeong-su started bickering for a few seconds before finally deciding to go down. After a few minutes, Gyeong-su was almost at the end. "I wanna go down first." Na-yeong said pushing through everyone wanting to get to the rope. "One person at a time. You might fall if it shakes too much." Cheong-san answered as nicely as possible. "Well, I won't shake it then." Na-yeong answered still persisting one going first. Is she pretending to be this dumb or is she actually this dumb? I questioned as I gave her the side-eye. I let out a heavy sigh trying not to say anything that would make the situation worse.
"Na-yeong sit tight and wait your turn. As much as I hate to say this, no one wants you to get hurt or die. So, please just wait a few more minutes for Gyeong-su to say it's clear." I said trying to calm Na-yeong down and get her to wait a little bit more. Na-yeong groaned in annoyance. "Why do you always act like you're in charge?" She said crossing her arms. "I mean you could be in charge if you would like." I answered with a smile on my face. "But that would mean killing zombies. Thinking of ways to get us out of here. Alive. And did I mention if needed sacrificing yourself to protect the group?" I stated, still having the smile plastered on my face.
"That's what I thought." I said after Na-yeong hadn't answered me. After a few moments, Gyeong-su yelled that Ms. Park was on the second floor. "Here Na-yeong, go next." I said guiding her up to the edge of the window.
After a few more minutes Na-yeong made it down and it was time for the next person to go. After about 10 minutes or so it was only me, Cheong-san, and On-jo. "Hey, On-jo come on it's your turn." I said pulling her to the window. She stopped suddenly making me turn and face her. "I-sak..." She said as she started to tear up again. "On-jo, I don't think I-sak would be too happy knowing that her best friend died because she was too busy mourning her. I-sak would be happy knowing that you made it out of here alive. And even if she's not here physically, she's always with you mentally. So please, survive. For I-sak." I said as I wiped her tears away. After a few moments On-jo made it down and it was our turn.
"You go down next." I said looking at Cheong-san. "Nope, we're not doing this again. You're going down first whether you like it or not." He said pulling me to the window. I didn't have time to argue because the zombies were starting to enter the room. "Fine." I reluctantly agreed, as I grabbed my backpack and made my way to the end of the window. I gave Cheong-san one final look before starting to head down.
I didn't need to use the knots to get down since I already knew how to rappel down without getting hurt from one of my pasted lives and Yeong-ja's body was perfect for it. When I made it down Gyeong-su and Dae-su helped me get into the classroom. "The princess has arrived." Dae-su said as he and Gyeong-su bowed. This made me roll my eyes. "You guys aren't funny" I said walking over to On-jo.
After a few moments, no one came down. "Where's Cheong-san?" Gyeong-su asked making me walk over to the window. "He was supposed to be down by now-" I was interrupted by someone falling out of the window. Seeing this made my eyes widen. I couldn't lose someone else.
"Cheong-san!"
