Third Person POV
10 years before the cataclysm
Kiyotaka ran to the edge off the cliff, and he was greeted with a beautiful view of a city.
It looked absolutely amazing. You could tell that it was a place that relied on its technology. Aesthetically, it looked like a city of the industrial revolution, but its technology seemed significantly more advanced than anything else he had ever seen.
While relishing in the view, Kiyotaka suddenly heard a strange sound and turned around to see a portal of sorts was opening, a few meters behind him.
He put up his guard and awaited whoever would come out of the portal. Eventually, two figures appeared and walked out. A blonde-haired man and woman.
Kiyotaka was a bit confused with what was happening, but he observed that they were most definitely twins.
"Oh uh hello!" The blonde-haired quickly noticed and greeted Kiyotaka. The sister merely waved with a smile.
"Umm... Hello." The twins were confused from his rather empty response. Kiyotaka cursed himself for still having his terrible social skills.
"Well... greetings. I'm Aether." The male twin said, raising his hand.
"And this is my sister, Lumine." He said, pointing to her with his thumb.
"Hi." The girl said with a smile.
"Hi. My name is Kiyotaka Ayanokouji." He said.
"Looks like they have surnames here, sis." Aether said to his sibling.
"Do you not have any surnames from... wherever you came from?" Kiyotaka asked them.
"Oh no no no no no." The girl quickly denied while waving her hands in such fashion.
"It's just that... we have kind of a long history about it, but we don't really want to talk about it. Especially, with a stranger. No offense." The girl added.
"I understand. I won't pry." Kiyotaka said.
"Well, Kiyotaka, we actually came from another world, and we accidentally arrived here. Our device that we use to travel has ran out of juice." Aether explained.
"Psst. Aether, what are you doing? We can't just tell this guy that we came from another world. Who knows what he'll do?" Lumine whispered to Aether's ear, and Kiyotaka pretended that he didn't hear it at all.
"I feel that he's trustworthy, Lumine. Just trust me." Aether whispered back with a calm smile, which put the girl slightly at ease, but she was still wary. Kiyotaka was relieved that he didn't have to face more people with trust issues.
"Is that so?" Kiyotaka said. The twins just nodded as a response.
"Well, I would, but I'm afraid I can't help you. I, too, have just arrived here." He said.
"Oh, I see..." Aether said with a pensive expression.
"I guess we're stuck here for now." He said to his sister with a smile to lighten her up a bit.
"Aww..." She said with a sad expression.
"Why don't we go to that city over there? Perhaps, we can find someone to help with your current dilemma." Kiyotaka suggested to them.
"Good idea." Aether immediately brightened up.
"Want to go, sis?" He asked.
"It's our best shot, so I guess we should go." She said.
"Alright. Kiyotaka, can you lead the way for us?" Aether asked him.
"Very well." Kiyotaka replied.
With that, the three headed off to the capital city of Khaenri'ah.
Chapter End
A shorter chapter just to show how the three got acquainted with each other. Not much else.
I'm planning to kinda fly past the prologue chapters, so we can get into the meat of the story. Expect around 2 to 3 chapters left, before we reach Volume 1.
