"Hey, did you hear luke was at the cinemas last night with a random girl. Holding hands and everything."

"Oh..."

The other kept talking amoungst themselves but I just couldn't force myself to want to know. I thought I meant something to him. I thought we were moving towards something. Did his words mean nothing to him? Did I mean nothing to him? Did this necklace mean nothing to him?

Reaching up to where the silver chain hung sullen on my neck I twisted the opal pendant between my fingers.

Making my decision I tugged on the left hand side of the chain pulling the back to the front exposing the clip that held the two sides together. Slowly twisting it undone the chain slipped off my left shoulder to hang limb against my back. I pulled the chain completely off and stared down at the jewellery in my hands

"Grace...? Isn't that the necklace Luke gave you?"

"Yea but I guess I shouldn't wear it anymore"

"Hey grace... look behind you."

Turning my head i looked to see Luke standing there a pained expression on his face as he stared at my bare neck
