I sigh, the clicks of my keyboard coming to an end, placing two fingers on the touchpad, slowly dragging them up.
"953 words... Finally." I groan as I slam the laptop shut, pushing it away and leaving it in the middle of the table. I feel the creaking of my bones slowly move up my body as I stand up.
I take a step away and push the chair back into place. I lean on the table and take a deep breath, holding it in. I slide my hand over to the mug, covered in floral art. I hook my fingers around the deep green handle. I purse my lips and let out the breath I was holding in. I look in the mug to see the few drops of a dark drink, swimming throughout the mug.
I quickly look away and walk over to the counter, placing the mug down and watching the liquid slow to a stop. I run the water from the tap, watching the deep golden reflection sparkle through the clearness from the water. I grab the mug and carefully place it in the sink. I grab the cloth hanging from the tap and put dish soap in my palm, I wipe it off with the cloth and gently rub the mug, barely putting any pressure as I carefully clean the old drink out, the smell of coffee mixes with the fresh smell of the soup. I watch myself clean in carefully, making sure to not mess up any of the paint that had been put on it in the past. I continue as I hear the sound of the running water slowly get quieter and quieter, until. It was completely quiet.
I glanced up at the tap, making sure it was still going. I stare at the water, watching the colours contaminate the clearness. A loud ringing started in my ears, growing louder and louder until it was unbearable. As my vision blacks out, I hear something shatter, and once again. Everything was quiet.
I gasp for air, watching my surroundings unblur as I lean on the counter for support. I blink a few times until everything is as clear as it was before. I slowly lift my hands off the counter and watch them shake, noticing the colour behind them. I slowly lowered my hand and stared at the sink, my eyes growing wide as I stare at the multiple shards of porcelain. Tears fill my eyes as I stare at the flowers painted on each and every one of them. I feel a single drop slowly drip down my cheek, followed by a flood of tears as I collapse, falling to my knees as I hold my head in my hands.
I start to lose the feeling of the world around me, as I pinch my arms, trying to get a breathe in. I slowly stop pinching myself and notice something rubbing up against my leg. My eyes dart down to see a white kitten, full of fluff with grey faded at the tip. She hops into my lap and paws at the sweater I was wearing. I wrap my hands around her and place her on the counter, pulling the sweater over my head and dropping it on the floor, leaning against the wall as I gently pet the kitten, the world around me slowing going back to its original state and the ringing slowly fades away, soon enough I can hear the kittens purr. I rub her chin and smile softly, looking at the name tag wrapped around her neck.
"Mocha..." I still don't know how she got here, she just showed up at my door, but I couldn't leave her be. Technically she isn't aloud here, but I don't mind, she's the only one who can help me at this point. She has saved my life so many times. Cat or not, she is my best freind.
