The next morning Camila woke up from a tap on her shoulder.
"Your food is getting cold so I suggest you eat it now," Lauren, the captor, said. Camila barely had time to process anything before she exited the room, not giving Camila the chance to even see her. Camila was sure that her friends and family knew she was missing by now. The police were probably looking for her around the streets of Miami. She hoped they would find her soon.
Camila's family was very important in Miami, her father was the Mayor after all. She was well known by the people around the city, and especially in school. Camila was very popular in Miami High, she was a cheerleader, she excelled in every subject, and was nice to all of her peers. She was humble of course, and very beautiful. Boys were constantly trying to date her, but she honestly didn't want to be in any kind of relationship. She did have a boyfriend for the first two years of high school but it didn't end well. She found him cheating on her with some girl, and it broke her heart. She didn't want to leave her house for a week, and her best friends had to force her out of bed every day until she agreed to get up herself. Since then she didn't trust anyone else with her heart, no one was able to put the pieces back together again.
Camila ate her breakfast quickly, and was done within minutes. She was really bored, and didn't know what to do with herself. She looked around the room, but only saw white dull walls. She kept trying to look for something interesting when something in the corner of the room caught her eye. She squinted, and saw it was small cardboard box, but she couldn't see what was inside from where she was sitting. She was thinking of ways to get to the box, when the door opened again. Lauren and a young man walked in.
"Good Job, Jauregui! Wow I didn't think you would be able to capture her," the man spoke, "I was pretty sure Nick was going to give me the job, seeing as it took so long for you to get her," he continued to speak. The young man was really attractive. He had brown hair and bright green eyes, but they weren't as striking as Lauren's.
"Shut up, Mahone. You know I always get the job done," Lauren said with a scowl on her face. Camila assumed that Lauren didn't like this Mahone guy very much.
"Hello my lady, the name's Austin, and might I say you are really beautiful," Austin said bending down, taking Camila's hand, and kissing it. Camila flinched, and Lauren was quick to disconnect their hands.
"What the fuck do you think you're doing Mahone?" Lauren screamed still holding Austin's wrist in a death grip.
"Chill out Lauren, I barely even did anything," Austin struggled trying to release his hand from her grip. She finally let go, and shoved him out of the room with a glare.
"I'm sorry about him, he's just an idiot. I don't even know why he's part of this case," Lauren said finally talking to her.
"What case?" Camila asked trying to get answers.
"Look Camila, you were captured for a reason, it wasn't just a random kidnap, that's really all I can tell you," Lauren told her. She wasn't being as mean as she was yesterday. She had bags under her eyes and a small bruise on her jaw that wasn't very visible;she looked exhausted. Her eyes were soft, and it actually looked like she was sorry for kidnapping Camila, but she knew that couldn't be. Lauren wouldn't have captured her, if she didn't want to, at least that's what she thought.
"Whatever," Camila answered she didn't know what else to say, then she remembered the box in the corner, "What's that box in the corner?"
Lauren looked behind her, and saw the box Camila was talking about. She walked over, and picked it up then brought it back to Camila.
"I forgot to tell you about these, I guess it just slipped my mind," she said. The box was filled with a couple of books and magazines. Camila looked at the covers of the books, and instantly saw some of her favorites.
"Since you're probably going to be bored during the time that you're here, I asked my boss Nick if I can give you something to do. He said I can as long as you can't use them to escape, so I brought some of my favorite books and a few magazines. Hopefully they'll be enough for you," Lauren said shyly putting the box on the ground. Camila didn't answer, it seemed really unusual that her captor was being nice to her. It didn't sound right.
"Um Okay then, is that all you need?" Lauren asked awkwardly turning to leave.
"I would like to be freed, but I don't think that's going to happen anytime soon is it?" Camila said with a tone in her voice. Although Lauren was being nice it didn't mean Camila had no right to be angry, she was kidnapped for god's sake.
Lauren frowned, she didn't expect this to be Camila's reaction. She thought she would be a little thankful. It wasn't that easy to convince Nick to let her give Camila books, he usually just leaves the hostages in a room with nothing but the chair they are tied to and the dull walls around them. Lauren didn't even know why she was doing this for the young girl. She was usually cold to the hostages and that's why Nick loved her. Camila was a special case, and she was honored to be part of it.
Lauren decided to just ignore the question,"Okay I'll come back later to check on you then," she said, and left the room locking the door behind her. Then she remembered something.
"Shit," Lauren said as she walked back into the room, "I forgot to loosen the knot on your hands, god I'm such an idiot."
"Yea you are," Camila said as Lauren comes to loosen her hands.
"Okay put your feet against the chair, I need to make it tighter so you can't escape" Lauren said ignoring Camila's last comment.
"No! Why should I listen to you?" Camila said not listening.
"Okay you want to do it the hard way, we'll do it the hard way," Lauren said forcing Camila's feet against the chair tying them up.
"Hey! Ow shit, that's too tight!" Camila screamed as Lauren pulled on the string to make it tighter.
"Should've listened to me before," Lauren said getting up from her kneeling position,"Okay which book do you want?" Lauren asked pointing to the books.
"I can get it myself, thank you very much," Camila said kneeling down to get "The Perks of Being a Wallflower".
"I love that book."
"So do I."
"That's cool."
"Yeah."
"Okay um have fun reading your book," Lauren said walking to the door.
"Lauren!" Camila said suddenly.
"Yeah?" Lauren turned her head around looking at Camila questioningly.
"Thanks," Camila said shyly looking down.
"No problem," Lauren smiled.
She walked to the door, then stopped at the entrance, and turned around. "It's strange because sometimes, I read a book, and I think I am the people in the book," Lauren quoted, and with that she closed the door.
