you woke with a start. once again, you had dreamt of the same boy you had all those years ago.

six years. for six years, the same boy has been showing up in almost all of your dreams. you were six when these dreams began. you had turned thirteen just about two months ago.

the weird thing was, as you grew up, the boy in your dream grew up with you, too.

you looked to your right to check what time it was. your clock read 6:32 am.

"just in time," you mutter, getting out of bed. you brushed your hair, picked out an outfit, and grabbed your backpack to head downstairs.

"morning honey," your mom greets you.

"hi mom," you smile. "what's with the casserole ingredients?" you ask, spotting numerous ingredients on the kitchen counter.

"oh, a new neighbor moved in just yesterday afternoon," your mom explains. "there's heather, who's a few years older than me. peter, her husband. leena, her daughter – the oldest, by the way. walker, her second. and tanner, her youngest boy."

"mhm," you answer, sitting on your stool and taking a bite out of a waffle.

"i heard the boy's the same age as you. the older one," your mom says. "i invited them for dinner tonight."

"uh-huh," you say, too busy stuffing waffles in your mouth.

"it's gonna be a sit down dinner," your mom smiles as you sip some orange juice. "dress nicely, okay? dinner's at seven."

"will do, mom," you laugh. "i'm running a little late, since i took long to pick an outfit to wear."

"better hurry up, kiddo," your dad walks into the room.

"hey, dad," you greet.

"morning," he smiles.

"where's theo?" you ask, looking for your brother.

"he slept over at his friend's," your mom answers.

"oh, right," you say. "lemme just say, theo's seventeen. sleepovers? seems a little weird to me."

"he says it's for a science project," your dad shrugs.

""science project' my ass," you snort. "i guess i'll see him at school."

"oh shit, i'm gonna be late," you say, pushing your plate towards the sink.

"language!" your mom exclaims.

"sorry mom, gotta go! love you both!" you say, slinging your backpack on your shoulder and running out the door.

you rush to school – which didn't take that long, because your house was one of the closest ones to school. you lived in a pretty suburban town. it was often quiet, but it was nice, because everyone knew everyone. the houses weren't what you'd expect in a town like such – they were actually quite big, some even being luxurious. the town was completed with a local grocery store and a school.

you walked through the doors of highlands high school, seeing everyone rushing to get their books from their lockers and head to class. you never really stored anything in your locker, only your flute that you barely used, thanks to non-frequent music classes – along with some old props that were used in the latest school play. and with that, you headed to science, your first period.

"hey!" your close friend, ivy, whispers. you two were seated beside each other.

"hey," you turn and smile at her, setting your backpack down. "monday again."

"yeah," she sighs. "at least science isn't that bad."

"science isn't bad at all," you say.

"for you it isn't," she whines. "wanna come over this afternoon?"
